Our own Paul Reinhart often played centre as well.

The thing with Cammallari is that he's small and most modern centres have some size as they often have to be the third defenceman, otherwise I think he'd be okay as he grew up at the centre position, so yeah I kind of agree with your conclusion and I wonder why we signed Stempniak. Maybe he was signed before we knew we could sign Hudler.
I recall Reinhart moonlighting at center, but it wasn't often. He was an all star quality defenceman

New Hall article on Sven

http://www.calgaryherald.com/sports/...186/story.html

Quote:
Last season, Baertschi tipped the scales at 181 pounds. A year later, his weight is closer to 190.
“I’m trying to get stronger, because I’m not the biggest guy,” he said. “But it will come. I’m still young, and I’m just trying to work it on during the summer.

Quite a few mistakes in that article.

He had 34 points in the playoffs, not 27.

San Jose was not his last game, Edmonton was.

If Baertschi needs PP time, take out Glencross. As much as I love scoreface, he's better at ES and PK.

Tanguay-Cammalleri-Iginla
Wideman-Giordano

Baertschi-Cervenka-Hudler
Bouwmeester-Brodie
Glencross went from scoring 3 goals on the PP in 79 games to 8 goals in just 67. If he is utilized correctly I think he could be that super pest in front of the net on the PP and pop in 10 or more while doing so.

I would be completely fine with the following:

Baertschi/Glencross - Cammalleri - Iginla
Tanguay - Wideman

Baertschi/Glencross - Cervenka - Hudler
Bouwmeester/Brodie - Giordano

The risk of having Tanguay at the point is outweighed by having Glencross as even more firepower on the PP units. His 8 goals on the PP beats the 6 SH goals the Flames gave up and I am sure not all of those were a result of Tangs being on the point.

I definitely get the "something special," maybe even "star material" feeling from him.

That interception with the quick roofer on Phoenix is just sick.

Yeah I was watching at the bar with a couple friends. I was pumping up Sven to them and he did not disappoint.

That goal shows that he's got raw talent and confidence. That's what excites me about him.

Yup and great sense of where the puck/play is. Or even better, WILL BE.

He's got a few of those intangibles you can't teach. As long as his work ethic is high and he adds to all areas of his game he could be a superstar.

I love the young talent the Flames have right now. I haven't said that in 20 years.
