Default Talk to the NHL

Quote:
That doesn't tell us very much. What was the season ticket base to start with? Are prices still the 2nd lowest in the league? Are new sales full season ticket packages, or does this include game packs? What is the discount off face price for season tickets?

Instead of harrassing old men at libraries why isn't there an SOS ticket campaign? Why isn't the NHL requiring a minimum season ticket number like they did for Winnipeg?
What it tells us is that they are trending upward. Despite all the negative press and uncertainty people are buying in record numbers. The NHL as the owner sets the ticket prices not the fans. All of the information you seek is on the Coyotes website if it bothers you that much. Your original assertion that the fans weren't increasing support is not true.

Harrassing old men at libraries? Ok then... from reading your posts I thought you were semi impartial but I guess I was wrong.

When the old men are spouting half truths and there is another group to provide the other side of the story this is "harassing"?

Maybe they set a minimum ticket sale in Winnipeg because they already lost a team and need a much much higher percentage of the local population to not only buy in but to pay some of the highest ticket prices in the league to make it work. That and they were getting a team back. Phoenix hasn't lost one yet.

What others are implying is that it's not too hard to sell record numbers when the previous record is atrocious.

Considering what is going on that they are setting records should be enough.

What the Doan camp hopes to learn Monday is whether enough signatures were gathered and if July 9 will be considered the final deadline for them.

Arizona law says referendum organizers typically have 30 days after an ordinance is passed to turn in signatures, which, in this case, would be Monday. But organizers say because paperwork was unavailable until June 15, they should have until July 16 to turn in signatures.

It's unclear whether the required number of signatures has been reached or if organizers will even submit them Monday to the city.

Bross plans to check in with General Manager Don Maloney this morning to check in on those factors and learn the status of Jamison's bid to purchase the team.

"Pending the outcome of that conversation, it could go one of two ways," Bross said. "I would think if they don't have the signatures and it looks like the Jamison thing is going to go (through), then Don and I would get a little more serious in our dialogue about a new contract.

"If they do have the signatures or something throws a wrench in it and they say we're looking at two months before we can make a decision, I think we have to listen to some other offers."

While it'd be horrible if Doan had to leave, I wouldn't blame him and would want the best for him but as long as the team stays in the end. I'd be happy.

The Glendale Tea Party Patriots have left the confines of Denny's, to assist with the signature drive this weekend. From this poorly worded rant, it is hard to determine which petition they are helping with.

Their website needs even more help.

It looks like something a 13 year old programmed for his computer class.

Default looks like today's presser should be a real circus

While I don't agree with GWI they are at least professional and kept a good tone.

They are not involved with Cobb and his crew so the press conference today should be a complete clownshow.

Coyote fans will be grateful that this group is so disorganized. A little coordination between Jones, Cobb, Tea Party, GWI and business owners, and they should have easily got the required signatures on time.

I wouldn't say easily.... Once the Glendale first group got out there with the opposing viewpoint I think the signature well dried up. Ground pounding isn't GWI's gig and the issue is too split for any business to attach their name to it for fear of alienating customers. Cobb, Jones and the Tea Party folks don't look like they would fare to well when you have a standard hockey fan standing next to them with a different side. I don't think they could help themselves from making a outlandish comment.

But it didn't stop them from having their Bagdad Bob press conference today.

This will likely tell the tale. If Doan signs it is likely going through. If he doesn't it means either Jamison doesn't have the money or there are other issues.

Given that Doan's agent now has gone public that his client is willing to play for the Wings, Canucks and Pittsburgh, I'm not sure how good things are looking for the Dogs.

Good news for Jamison:

Lisa Halverstadt ‏@LisaHalverstadt Confirmed: ‪#Glendale has rejected attempted sales-tax initiative.

From #Glendale release: "The city found that the initiative effort failed to comply with several critical aspects of the state statutes pertaining to initiative petitions. Most importantly, the description of the initiative text that appeared on all of the petitions was inaccurate and misleading to the voters who signed the petitions."
