Has it ever occurred to you that maybe the reason you have bad experiences with male waiters is because they expect you to get them food, not the other way around?

OK, I can see why people are having fun here, and I got some lulz out of this thread too. Having silly arguments with an idiot can be entertaining sometimes, in a stupid kind of way.
And I don't want to be the fun police here, but it shouldn't take too long to realize that Sparks1 has some kind of very real mental illness. She seems to have a wide variety of psychiatric signs and symptoms (obsessional thoughts, memory disturbances, persecutory delusions, avoidant behaviors, lack of empathy, etc), and has been in a decade long conversation in which she has never absorbed a single thing that anyone has said to her.
My point here is that there's a lot of lip service given to how people with mental illnesses shouldn't be stigmatized and ridiculed.
But then you see (for example) Charlie Sheen in a floridly manic state, and everyone in the western world mocks and laughs at him. Yeah, some of the jokes are funny, but are made a lot less funny by the fact that he actually does have a serious a mental illness, which has cost him his job, his marriage, etc.
And here we have someone with a problem on CP, and they're being baited and belittled for days. Like I said, I got some laughs out of this thread too. And I doubt it will make any difference in Sparks1's case, because she's just running on autopilot now, repeating the same chat-forum interactions countless times over.
But I just hope that the next time you say to yourself "Haha, that person's completely crazy", you take a second to consider that they maybe they actually *do* have a mental illness, and that maybe we shouldn't be laughing.

It is pretty scary, depressing and disturbing all at once. A good sign is that she refuses to listen or absorb any of this information. 10 years of being called horrible names and just yelled at on the internet, and she hasn't changed at all. So there's clearly no chance of depression and her future looks to be her just continuing this fight for as long as she's living and it all going nowhere.
It is pretty depressing when you think about it though. 10 years of this, daily exchanges upwards of 100 plus posts a day and the conversation has literally gone nowhere.

Honest tipping question here. I'm traveling for business for a week, staying at Holiday Inn. This morning, I left a $3.00 tip on my pillow, and when I got back this evening, it was sitting neatly on the bedside table. Clearly, my tip was rejected - but why?
Is the maid trying to tell me that the tip was simply unnecessary?
Was she offended by the paltry amount? (it was all the cash I had!)
Does one not tip at an HI?
Is the pillow the wrong place?

You always tip when on the day you check out. Otherwise they (well most housekeepers anyways) just assume you left the money there by accident or some such. But if you leave it on the last day you stay before you check out, then the housekeeper either assumes its a tip or that you left it by accident at which point it's obviously finders keepers.
And obligatory Springs1 reference hoping she makes her triumphant return.

Here's a legitimate question.
Going to a corporate stampede party tomorrow. Free drinks all night. How much would you guys tip? I was thinking $2

Per drink?
I'd tip. More if they bring you the correct number of ranch dressings the first time you ask. I'd triple the tip, if she mind melds with you, and then anticipates your needs.

I've never been more disappointed that a blatant attempt to bribe a chambermaid has failed to net me an extra bottle of bath gel and a little chocolate on my pillow!

Yeah, $2 per drink. I'm probably only going to order beer bottles and I'll most likely go up to the bar and order it myself. I think $2/drink in that case is too much.

I would you tip your standard amount per drink you normally do. Now if you want good service tip $5 for your first drink and than a dollar per after that. This will ensure good service all night.

Another Stampede question: since drinks are so expensive (ie $6.75 for a can of beer), do you tip the bartender / beer tub girl who put forth the grand effort of picking up the beer and cracking it for you?

How busy is it and do you want another beer.
I think that busy stampede tents ate one place where tipping works in improving service. You certainly dontbtip in these places to give the tub girls a fair wage because they are making between 500 and 1k a day in tips.
But if you are there early before it gets stupid busy and tip well i have found you get better service later on in the night even if you dial back your tipping.
So if you tip to subsidize income dont tip at stampede, if you tip for service then tip.

I'm curious as to Springs1's thoughts on tub girls. No doubt she's morally opposed to tipping the girl just for cracking your beer. IT's THEIR job after ALL!?!
