Anyone have a great spot for photographing the fireworks in the city? I was kind of thinking 26 St SE... you can do the skyline with the Stampede grounds, and maybe catch COP as well.
You can try around Blackfoot and 26th ave/Ogden road. I can't remember how the elevation is, but I know it's close to the grounds and downtown. If you want a really good view of the entire city (although it might be a bit far) then anywhere on Sarcee near COP is great. Finding a place to park might be a problem, but you can see everything from there.

Shut up. Really? I find that incredibly hard to believe. That stuff is gut rot, I'm telling you.
I managed to snag a bottle of the Stampede whiskey when I was down a few weeks ago in the Crowfoot Liquor Store (in the same strip mall sorta thing as Schanks north is). Maybe they've got a few left there.
Albertans tend to think of it as caramel colored lighter fluid but it appears to be valued highly outside Alberta. I've had people from out East and the U.S. ask me about it.
Haha, next weekend. In my day kids weren't so entitled and partied harder. More like can't wait to do it again tomorrow night.
I'm joking BTW. Well sort of.
Tomorrow night? Pishaw... in MY day it was beer and clamato for breakfast on saturday and sunday and by 3:00 pm you were well on your way. Consequences were delayed until monday, 4 days to recover, rinse and repeat on friday.
Stampede attendance for
Friday, July 6, 2012: 108,455
Same day
for 2011: 81,625
Record same day attendance
was set in 2000 with: 107,268
The attendance will falter and settle in around the same average + or - 10K, like usual. The same old people go the same old event, summer after summer.

how about you stay out of this thread if you hate the stampede so much?

I tried the whoopie pie today. Big disappointment. The cookie was kind of chewy and stuck to my fingers and the whole thing was incredibly dense. I thought it was going to be nice and light. The cream cheese filling was like eating cold butter.
I love Stampede and I'm curious as to what the temperature was on the grounds today. I'm up in Rocky Ridge and it's nuclear hot out right now. Even if I were to go down there, drink some cold beers and find a Buckle Bunny, it's too hot to ####.

The best pick-up line for tonight might be "I have air conditioning."

So I've been to Stampede grounds a few times since I turned 18 but have never gone inside Nashville North yet.
This year that changes.
On a Friday/Saturday night, would it be realistically possible to get into there after the fireworks? Or would I have to lineup earlier if I want to get in?
My wife won some passes to meet and greet George Canyon tonight, from Country 105.
She's coming home now. Her reserved seats never existed (ie: taken away), and the meet and greet was put off until 11pm. Needless to say, she's pretty disappointed. Almost in tears. She was really looking forward to meeting him and seeing the show.
...great Stampede...so far.
