Ok so I decided to give D3 a try. Played through normal before coming to post on here. A few comments about the game itself before some auction questions.
The game itself I thought was average. Some nice story and fun characters, but in no way superb or new in any way. Diablo 2 was definitely the high point of the series. Will be interesting to see how long people play this game. I bought it with the justification that 'Blizzard always has the nicest cut scenes in gaming' and was not disappointed there.
Normal was definitely way too easy, but I do realize the difficulty will be in the higher skill levels. I only died twice all through normal (once during Belial and once during Diablo) and those two were more just getting the feel of things than actual challenge. Because of the ease the game felt short, though it does appear to be as long as the previous versions (minus any expansions obviously).
I actually feel a bit cheated with the content as Blizzard is obviously using the higher difficulties and constant gearing up for 'replay value' even though it's not ACTUAL replay content. Kinda lazy on their part if you ask me, but I went in knowing that's they way they had it built so I can't blame anyone but myself. Just had to see what the fuss was about. Not excited about another Blizzard game that focuses on farming.
The only thing left that is intriguing to me (though trying some other classes may hold a small amount of promise) is the real money auction house. And that's where my first question is:
In your opinions, would it be smart rush through nightmare and hell to get to inferno to focus on farming the top items, or is there real money value in a lot of the items moving up the difficulties? IE, people being lazy and just wanting to purchase items that will make their climb easier?

Don't think there is much value in those (I may be wrong) but even if you want mid tier items, the best way is still to get to level 60 and then go back and farm those mid tier ones. You will then have a Nephalem Valor buff to help you get better drops.
The gold auction house has tons of mid tier items for next to nothing (5K gold or less) so translated into real money value? Haven't done a check but at best you would likely be making pennies after fees are accounted for...

Personally, I think the time/reward ratio doesn't make the real money auction worth it. You can luck out and get a real elite item to make some money but will the hours you'll have to spend to find it be worth it?
I think if you go into it trying to make your game purchase money back it is a reasonable goal. If you're doing it to make money I would suggest just getting one of those work-from-home jobs. You'll make more money in fewer hours than just running through the same levels over and over again in the hopes of finding an elite item to sell.

Oh no, I totally get that, I wasn't looking at it to add actual income. Being the statistician I am now with my poker I am completely all about time invested/money earned. It's actually the funny little things you can find in everyday life that people just don't get.
'Well I saved 35 bucks hitting this sale!'
'Yeah, but you spent 10 hours over a week and a half looking for the best price! Or 3.50 an hour. You coulda worked a few hours, paid the extra money, and still come out ahead'.
Or the guy who drives all over to get 7 cents off his gas...
You know, that sort of thing.
I was just figuring, if I'm going to play it anyway for a while, which I most likely will, what would be the best route?
And people do spend money on ridiculous things. Met this one older gentleman in the poker room who was playing some sort of Pokeman type game on his iPhone. He was collecting creatures for his two young daughters. One of them got a gold dragon and the other one was throwing a bit of a fit cause she didn't have one. So he ponied up 100 Cdn to buy a digital gold dragon for his other daughter. Now this guy had LOTS of money, a well off business man, but still. 100 dollars for something that isn't even real???
It's a weird time we live in. So basically if I'm playing anyway, I'd like to know what might be the best way to make a few hundred bucks. If I keep it in my Paypal account I can use it for other things anyway, like online auctions (real stuff, eBay etc.) or even online poker.

Yeah, but while D2 at the start was good, I don't think it became great until LoD and amazing at patch 1.10 - which came out 3 years later. I guess it could be argued that Blizzard messed up taking that long to get it right but despite being disappointed with the initial release of D3 (and to be fair I had huge expectations) I still have faith that this game could become amazing....at the same time though I mean not having PvP at the release is a joke.
Anyways, my staff sold for a bit over 20M, got 17.9M after Blizz taxes, that's pretty awesome for something I nearly sold to a merchant

Yes, an good expansion could really help. You are right when you say LoD really improved D2. So there is that possibility.
I'm not sold that the PvP will be any good. That was my favorite part of WoW when I did play for a year, I'm quite competitive. Raids... snore. But I just don't see it working on Diablo. I guess we will see though. Will be interesting.
It will probably drive up prices on items though, that's why I'm wanting to get a character or two ready for that.

Oh, and was anyone else disappointed with how Diablo looked? Haha, I know it's a small thing, but you want your end boss to look bad ass. His head looked cool, but the way his armor came over his chest he looked like he had breasts! Maybe that was because he had a female evil in him, who knows, but it still looked dumb in my opinion. Also, he walked like a hooker on high heels.
He seemed a little androgynous to me, lol. Which is fine for a lot of things, but not for my devil!

He did have breasts. The devil was a woman in this game.

Haha, did you just skip all the dialogue/story/cut scenes to kill & loot?

Not really up to speed on Bow cost as gloves are usually my thing. Just found this. Is it any good? I know DPS is a lil low for a 2 hander but DEX , VIT and LOH make this worth something right ?

Heh, no I watched it all. What did I miss? I know it (Diablo) was the combination of the seven evils total, and one of those is female. Though I would still think that still leaves the prime evil 6/7th male. I can't remember anything else that would cause him to look the way he did.
I dunno, he only seemed scary in a drag queen sort of way. Nothing wrong with that, just not the way I envision ultimate evil. Maybe a political statement against the 'homosexual agenda'?! Gasp!

All in all it just left me very confused...

Let me help to take that thing off your hands, I will even overlook the low DEX
Daradon I'm 99% sure Diablo was voiced by a female "voice actress" (I'm using that term loosely)

Those stats are nice, but 928 is pretty low, considering most DH are glass cannons I can't imagine that being more than a million or two. But who knows what the crazy US AH is like.

The life on hit stat is so low it is almost meaningless, so you should search without it. Lots of other comparables then, some starting at 100K (without a bid). Buy one outright for 300-600k.
Heck, if it doesn't sell put it on your scoundrel. Good weapon for him.

Good weapon, but without a socket I wouldn't be surprised if it sold for 200-300k

You missed (or misunderstood) a pretty decent chunk of the story. The gender of the Evils doesn't matter, it's the gender of the host body which gives the Prime Evil it's shape. Thus, this Diablo is "all woman".

LOL, you missed that part of the story but read a political statement into the game?
Hehe, anyhow Chris Metzen has a segment in the Collector's Edition making of the game disk that goes into the whole "designing Diablo as a gal" - apparently some people stormed out of the meeting room when it was originally brought up.
(Speaking of which, I should probably get rid of the the extra Collector's Edition I still have kicking around.)
