The first blockbuster trade of the summer is close to happening, Joe Johnson is going to Brooklyn for Anthony Morrow, Jordan Farmar, DeShawn Stevenson, Jordan Williams, Johan Petro, and a 2013 lottery pick that is protected from Houston that New Jersey acquired.

Joe Johnson is good, but I'm not sure the status of his contract. Last time IIRC he was among the highest paid players in the league, which he doens't deserve at this point in his career (he's a great number 2 player IMO). Atlanta is getting back a decent player in Morrow, but the rest are 8 through 15 players. Yuck. It's like the Raptors getting Johnson for DeRozan, Amir, Bayess, Alabi, and a lottary protected 1st. Nothing special. I'm not sure who wins in this deal, but Atlanta probably loses.

Atlants clears huge cap space under this as most of those contracts expire next year

Decent choice by him... now let's see if they can get Howard as well. I don't think they've got the assets to make a trade, especially if the Lakers are legitimately offering Bynum.

The Magic trading one malcontent for two would be pretty awesome. Bynum might be the only guy in the league less mature than Dwight, and Ron Ron is Ron Ron.

Eric Gordon agrees to a max four year, $58 million offer sheet with Phoenix, then lets it be known that he doesn't want to return to New Orleans. Will New Orleans force his bluff and match? Will they do a sign-and-trade? It's sort of like what's going on with Batum, signing an offer-sheet with Minnesota and saying he doesn't want to return to Portland.

@WojYahooNBA: The New Orleans Hornets will match the 4-year, $58 million offer sheet Eric Gordon agreed to sign with Phoenix, league source tells Y!

Jason Terry signs a 3 year deal with the Celtics.

Ray Allen is meeting with Miami and the Clippers on Thursday.

Eric Gordon is a moron. If he wanted out of New Orleans so badly why didn't he sign a 1-year tender to become a UFA next year? Oh yeah, cause then something might happen in the next year that'll prevent him from getting a quite frankly underserved max deal. He's got his deal, he's a happy camper.

Steven Nash to the Knicks looks to be close.

Fake trade time! Of course with no basis in reality other than I think it makes sense

If New York acquires Nash...

To Orlando
Carmelo Anthony
Tyson Chandler
Iman Shumpert
1st Round Pick

To New York
Dwight Howard
Hedo Turkoglu

Shumpert will almost certainly be included to Phoenix in the sign-and-trade for Nash. Otherwise, it's an interesting idea. Turk and Nash didn't really mesh well in Phoenix, and I wonder if there's enough ball to go around for Howard, Stoudamire, Nash and Turkoglu.

Right, forgot Shumpert. More than anything I just think the Knicks have to move Carmelo if they get Nash. Whats the point of getting an all-time great point guard if your small forward always has the ball in his hands from 18 to 6 seconds on the shot clock?

Looks like Steve Nash to the Lakers in a sign & trade is a done deal. Might be enough now to entice Howard to LA (although I don't want that- and I'm no fan of Bynum)

Nash changes everything. So pumped for this. Busted out beers in celebration great Canadian hero to my favorite team.

Suns eliminate any short term playoff hopes by trading him to someone in their own division.
