Scoring Winger

Nothing too new, but he seems excited. Likes the way the Feaster talks about him and wants to prove him right.
Also, not sure if fata, but an interesting timbit at the end with Ken Holland: "When the season was over, I told his agent we were prepared for three years," said general manager Ken Holland. "Obviously, my numbers were below $4 million. We talked a couple of times before July 1. It was apparent they wanted something that started with a 4. I was very comfortable with the offer we made."

My concern with Hudler is he kinda has the same syndrome as Kesler where a lot of his stats come from taking advantage of lower end teams. Hudler scored 19 of his 25 gaols against non-playoff teams last year.

Considering how the Flames fared against non-playoff teams last season down the stretch.... I'm ok with this.

Calgary had a real problem with Columbus and the Islanders last season though. Good teams don't lose the games they should win.
Calgary wins out vs Columbus, NYI, and the Oilers and they make the playoffs instead of LA. That's 3 of the bottom 4 teams. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

23 of the 25 goals that Jiri got were even strength.
He didn't get a lot of PP time (approx 2 min per game) with Detroit so I think that will change playing with the Flames.
Put him at center with Iggy and Cammi and I expect both his goal and assist totals to go up.

Guys, he's not a centre. I'm 100% sure he's not going to play centre. He will play right wing on the second line guaranteed.

From 2006-2011 the Detroit Red Wings website lists him as a center.

He came into the league as a center but was shuffled to wing.

Just curious, if they mistakenly had him listed as a goalie would you trade Kiprusoff and throw some pads on him?
He's a winger.

The Detroit Red Wings had him mistakenly listed as a center for 4 games in 2005-2006 and all of 2006-2007, 2007-2008, 2008-2009, 2010-2011?
Amazing.
Face it guys... he's a center, and I don't disagree, a winger. He can play all positions. Its a stupid argument.
By the way... here's a direct quote from the Calgary Flames website.
Quote:
The Calgary Flames announced today that they have signed center Jiri Hudler.

But then again, who am I to argue with the experts on here. You are right. The Detroit Red Wings and the Calgary Flames are wrong.

It doesn't matter what the Red Wings site had him listed as. If he's played his whole career on the wing, that's where he'll play.

Are you aware there's a difference between being listed as C and actually playing C?

He has taken 7, 70, 29, 21 FO's the last 4 years he played for Detroit. That is good for 11th, 10th, 9th, 10th on the team in FO's taken. In that same time frame Zetterberg listed as LW has taken over 1000 FO's and has been 1st or 2nd on the team in the category.
Now I guess it is possible that Zetterberg took the FO and then him and Hudler switched spots but that seems unlikely and a poor way to run lines for basically every play.

Not to mention they spelled "centre" wrong.
I'm outraged.

A perfectly good argument brewing and you had to go and bring facts into it. Thanks alot moon.

I'd prefer a player who can play in big games not just get us in and disappear like the guy on the West Coast. I guess expectations have dropped over the past few summers around here.

According to some he played center in the KHL, which means he likely played center around the last time Cervenka did and much more recetnly than the last time Cammalleri consistently played center. So whats the difference?

Yes it's an argument not to use him as a center. The same arguement can be used for Cervenka and Cammalleri too, yet ther eis a chance both slot in as centermen for us next year, why is Hudler any different?
