While highly inappropriate in her comments and grossly uncalled for, the French Canadian one made me laugh.

TSN says Shane Doan won't make a decision on his future until July 9, when he will know about the Phoenix Coyotes' future in Glendale, Ariz
So all will be known on July 9??? (hehehe... that's a Monday :-)

July 8 is a potential deadline for gathering signatures. GWI has argued the deadline is July 16.

July 8 is a Sunday, so it would push to the 9th regardless.

Signatures are going to get a little harder to get for the referendum now...
Meet the Coyotes PAC. For every GWI supporter out at the grocery store or mall trying to collect signatures for GWI there will be one of these guys out there with the opposing viewpoint.

Glendale council candidates call for delay in signing Phoenix Coyotes deal
http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepu...otes-deal.html
To: Elaine M. Scruggs, Mayor
Horatio Skeete, City Manager
As Glendale citizens and candidates running for city offices, we respectfully requested our city manager and present council to delay signing the Jobing.com Arena lease with a Coyotes owner.
We are concerned there may not be ample funds to pay everything the lease promises.
We also believe Glendale should take this position before Greg Jamison buys the team. The city should be able to do this now without having legal problems or penalties.
Signed by:
Mayoral candidate Walt Opaska
Mayoral candidate Jerry Weiers
Cactus District candidate Ian Hugh
Cactus District candidate Vince Ornelas
Cactus District candidate Stew Radawec
Sahuaro District candidate Diane Douglas
Sahuaro District candidate Anthony Kern

Glendale organizer says he can get Coyotes deal on Nov. ballot
http://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/n...t.html?ana=twt
The chief organizer of the effort to void the city of Glendale’s $300 million in payments to prospective Phoenix Coyotes buyer Greg Jamison is confident he can get the 1,800 signatures required to get the measure on the November ballot.
Joe Cobb and Ken Burns are leading the anti-Coyotes deal effort, collecting signatures at Glendale libraries and neighborhoods.
Cobb says he has until July 12 to get the signatures because of the recent court ruling on the Coyotes deal by Maricopa Superior Court Judge Dean Fink.
Cobb is confident he can get the signatures needed to get the deal on the ballot. Last week, The Arizona Republic reported they had collected 700 signatures. Cobb said he isn’t tipping his hand as to how many signatures they have now, but wants to turn in 2,000 signatures.

Gangs of crude Coyotes hockey fans tried again to intimidate Ken Jones and Joe Cobb who were gathering referendum signatures at Main Library in Glendale Sunday, July 1st. The police came out and told the hockey supporters to stay at a distance on the opposite side of the walkway. Jones and Cobb stated they will not allow the gang of heavyweight bullies to scare them away. They plan to remain getting signatures at both libraries every afternoon until July 15th. Funds have already been cut from libraries, parks and swimming pools, police and fire departments. The city council threatens to cut more money from every item except funding to the Coyotes owners.

If they move, I hope they remain the Coyotes, because I'll miss their goal horn.

I know these folks who were out there and this woman is doing a good job making things up if this makes it to CP.. They helped them get set up and even help them put away their tables.
However they did debate over the issues, and did hold their ground when Jones and his cronies were telling the general public false facts about what they were signing.
The signature gathers have been lying to the public, making it appear they are signing to save libraries when it has nothing to do with that.
Gong show..

Seems to me both sides are spreading plenty of "false facts". Truth is, no one knows what Glendale will be like without the Coyotes. Pure speculation.

It'll be like it was pre-1996... just fine. Life will go on.
Onwards and northwards now.... to Quebec.

If this thing gets to the ballot, it's officially over. There's enough of a turnover in council this time around (and a new city manager) that I don't think they'll have enough votes on council to push it through even if they did miraculously win the vote in the plebiscite.
Of course, I've maintained all along that Jamison doesn't have the money or ability to gather enough potential investors.
Where Shane Doan ends up signing this summer will be very telling.

Actually, if there is one thing you can guarantee is false, it is this statement.
In 1996, Glendale did not have hundreds of millions of dollars in outstanding loans for an arena.
