There's a pretty good Alpha Centauri total conversion mod available for Civ IV if you'd be interested in that.

There is a hot seat mode. I don't know if it was in one of the patches or what (I think so), but it's there and I've been playing it.

On one hand I am impressed, on the other I wonder if the guy lives in his moms basement eating Doritos and drinking Doctor Pepper.

That's not a Gods and Kings review!

I've played more Civ than probably any other game franchise, but I'm still holding out on Civ 5. The expansion has me tempted to jump back into some Civ goodness, but I'll wait for a review or two before I do so. Religion and espionage are things that should have been in the base game, not an expansion, so I'm a little peeved about having to buy two things for what I feel should only have needed to be one, but if the expansion turns out doing to Civ 5 what Beyond the Sword did to Civ 4, I'll probably have to get it.

EU3 and CK2 takes up a lot of my time, though.

I think even with Gods & Kings Civ 5 will prove to be less complex than an expanded Civ 4 was. But I'm happy to stick with Civ 5 because I never have to face the dread of fighting a superstacked unit again.

Picked up the Gods and Kings expansion.

I'll preface this with, I'm not a very good Civ player, (just muck around and build buildings and units). And the last time I played Vanilla Civ 5, was about 1 year ago. So lots of patches came through in that time.

I like it better than Vanilla 5 so far. I created a religion that makes my Civ happy and that helps a lot with Wars. I don't have to worry about an unhappy kingdom anymore when I annex cities.

With Religion and Spying, it's add another layer of complexity that is fun and interesting. They also added some more units like the WW1 units. Nice to have a bridge between rifleman and infantry.

Good to hear religion's back in, I never understood why they took it out in the first place. Just get rid of city states and we're all good.
