What happened to customer service? It's just so lacking at these big-box garage sales these days

Tell you what, I'll have them set up before hockey season starts and you can come and check it out for the season opener. (And maybe the bar too, but probably not).

I will tell you what. I will give you a 90% refund of the chairs and pick them back up for you! The 10% difference it to compensate for the emotional trauma I went through letting them go.

I am looking at a place in chochrane tomorrow so we may end up close to each other in the future

If anyone wants to check out what the cheapo screen can do let me know and we can set something up. I believe Silver bought one like mine as well just not retractable
It's true, I did. The screen I bought from Tiger Direct is awesome. It retracts manually (not electrically like ole Money Bags Fundmark's), but I haven't retracted it even once since I bought it. I think I paid less than $200 for it but I can't remember exactly. Super good value.

I don't get the logic of spending good money on a projector and shooting a <$200 screen. I equate this to buying a high-end amplifier and connecting it to budget speakers.

Does it make you feel better that I only spent $450 on my projector?

Tell that to Screen goo and other DYI home theater enthusiasts, you don't need a fancy screen, in fact the right paint will do great.

I think it will do, but won't do "great". Accurate colour reproduction with no distortion is going to be a serious challenge with a painted surface.

I have a good friend that does video calibration and he will actually recommend people not using his services if he doesn't think he can get good results from the screen. If he doesn't feel that his services will provide optimal results he won't attempt it.

The most common cause for him rejecting work is home-made screens. Second being people attempting to use a low end data projector (really slow refresh rates and response time).

Do you know what his rates are? I'd be interested in having mine calibrated.

I am not sure what his rates are, but I will ask and pm you if he thinks that he will get to it. I know he is pretty busy as he does a lot of contract maintenance work.

Fair enough, but to me it looks fan-fracking-tastic. I did go somewhere where they demoed a bunch of screens for me and in my opinion and to my eyes my screen is as nice as one 10x as much. I think your returns diminish rapidly as price goes up when it comes to screens.

Could you ask your friend who does the calibration to PM me too? Thanks.

Silver, where did you go to see the demo of the screens? I agreed, the diminishing of returns come pretty quickly when it comes to screen.

Memory Express between MacLeod and Blackfoot. They have a board with little 4"x4" (or some other size...can't quite remember) squares of samples of all the screens. You can compare different qualities side by side using different projectors. I found some of the really expensive screens looked like crap with the projector I bought. Maybe they needed more powerful projectors to use their full potential or maybe they just didn't look good to me. There is a major difference between all the screens though so good luck.

Has anyone here ever seen or tried a combination of projector and TV? Have the big screen come down in front of the TV?

Mine is set up and ready to go. I just need a big tv (and some drywall). But if I move my project will be scrapped and I will have to start from scratch again.

Looks like I might be doing the projector and TV on same wall now. Kunk get your creative thoughts going we also need to find a way to put in a wet bar in a finished basement.

Does anyone currently have a projector that comes down over a window? With decent blinds would the light coming in from the rear cause some issues
