Would love to Gillies vs. Brossoit in th GMG.
I have a feeling Subban might spoil any chance at that happening though.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Brossoit can get that #1 job... the Oil Kings should have a very strong team next year. The bigger issue is with Gillies and the fact that barring a major shock... John Gibson is going to likely be the American Starting goalie.
Regardless, that was a great article on Sven. Love the fact that his work ethic matches his skill. Definitely nice to see some of our recent prospects making some noise... haven't really had that happen to this franchise in a while

Side note, we could be well-represented at the world juniors next year.
Sieloff, Gilles, Gaudreau are all invited to US camps.
Brossoit and Jankowski shoudl get an invite to Canadian Camp.
Ortio still eligible or no?
|
And of course, the oft-forgotten Granlund will be with Finland (and likely leading them)

Granlund will probably stay in the NHL and contend for the Calder, just like our boy Baertschi.

I doubt Janko has any shot at the WJ this year but hopefuly he makes the squad the year after. I think he is going to have to absolutely dominate the USHL to make the team next year.

Any guesses on what number Sven will wear this year?
He wore 47 last year, but that's typical of rookies/callups to wear higher numbers with the Flames.
27 like in Portland?

^ Derek Smith already wears #27. He might give it up, though.

He should wear 14. The Flames aren't retiring numbers anymore so we might as well get it back in rotation on a high note.

He wore 27 in Portland and 15 for the Swiss Jr Team. I think 17 would look good on him for the Flames, and it's currently available.

I would like to see him wear a high #, like 92 (his birth year).

What about 69 LOL?!
I think his number should have a 7 in it: 17, 27, 47, those feel right IMO

No way. #14 should be saved for John Gaudreau.
