Late 2011 Macbook Pro Charging Question

Have a late 2011 MBP. I was just hanging on the computer playing diablo and the screen went dim ( as in it started running off battery power instead of being plugged in). I checked to make sure the cord was still connected and it was. The power source was extremely hot as mac chargers seem to do . Will my MBP start charging again after it cools or is this charger shot? LMK.

You say the screen dimmed like it started running on battery. Did you check to see if it actually stopped charging? Sometimes the screen dims because of the automatic brightness setting.

yeah it stopped charging . I restarted the computer and when I started it back u it was charging again. The power source was under a blanket which prob allowed it to get to hot.
