I look forward to seeing how his skill translates to his size.

Sure but the Flames don't know the other teams lists any better than we do. As I said, think it would've been worth the risk to take Tuevo or Ceci there and try to move up from our 2nd in hopes he's still there. Just my opinion though. If Jankowski ends up better than anyone else we could've taken, I'll be dead wrong, and happy about it.

I mentioned it before, but is what is almost unaminously regarded as a weak draft, why not go off the board with a risky high reward type of pick?

If you're going to do it, this is the time. A lot of those players in the media's top 30 wouldn't be top 30 in a lot of other drafts.

At the time of the draft, Howard was the 3rd high schooler taken number 1 in the previous 4 years. The other two were Stoudemiere and LeBron.

the criticism of that pick was purely conjecture about Okefor. The two were interchangeable going into the draft with many people split on the two.

If any NHL draft has a parallel, its the Taylor vs Tyler draft.

The comparison here is much different.

He met with the full Flames staff -- 35 or 40 guys. That must have been intimidating.

You can't teach skill and hockey sense. He's a big guy and a good skater. Now he starts putting his skill set against better opponents.

The only way for us to get that elusive #1 centre is drafting and developing him. Perfect pick.

Sure he was off the board but he was also high by report on a couple others teams for late 1st. The big thing is his age..being so young. If he was say born 6 months later he would most likely be a solid mid 1st round pick or potentially higher based on his skill/size. Be interesting to see how he looks next year when hes abit older.

With the last 3 drafts we have built up a really solid prospect base with the potential for future superstars, and the no name guys that shine in the playoffs.

5 years down the road if Sven, Jankowski, Ramage, Reinhart are the core of this hockey team we will be a contender again.

If everyone pans out properly and we surround these boys with a few good veterans and get solid goaltending, I think we should be able to win the Stanley cup in about 5-6 years.
