That is what happens when you overdo it.

I just read CP from time to time. Post once in a while.

Works better that way.

Why do people have to quit going to a website?? Quit being so dramatic people.

I wonder if this thread would exist if the Flames had a brighter looking future or if they had had a better season. Not calling those who are taking a sabbatical bandwagoners, but I think it would be harder to leave if the future was less bleak.

That said it is a big loss. I find most of Capn Crunchs posts funny and/or informative. same with Pylon.

I think if you are cranking out more than 3 posts per day you should look at taking a hiatus.

The Littlest Hobo theme song is running through my head as I read this thread.

I prefer when posters just mysteriously disappear. Then at least I'm able to speculate on how you died.

Murder? Car accident? Autoerotic asphyxia gone wrong? I'll never know...because I NEVER KNEW HIM. Oh the mystery.

I'm going to miss your creative and humorous style, Captain. You and Cowperson have given CP a lot of class.

I think you have the ability to write a good book.

I've read lately that you shouldn't sit on your behind for more than half an hour without getting up and walking around...so the move should be good for your physical, as well as mental health.

I think I crank out a post per day (meaningless) and I still feel guilty for being on here too much.

It would be hard to step away entirely as this is my primary source of news/current events.

A few years ago, I took a break from another board where I'd chalked up ~11,000 posts in eight years, only to find myself come here more and more.

Before that, I'd toil away on Usenet for hours every day for about six years before I yearned for a break.

The topics that repeatedly came up on former boards I use to frequent seem so irrelevant and less interesting to me now, that I only check them once every few weeks, if that.

I've met a lot of friends online in the last 15+ years, and many of those have migrated to 'real life.'

Nothing wrong with taking a step back.

With CC and pylon leaving, I will take up the mantle of sharing the wisdom of our fathers on a world that needs their wisdom more than ever.

CC

If a military conflict/incident occurs in these 6 months you have immunity from critizism to come back and add your opinion/knowledge.

You're the poster we need, not the poster we deserve.

So you'll flame me, because I can take it. Because I'm not a hero.

First Cap'n, then Pylon?! Both are part of my favorite posters to read. Sad day.

I didn't intend that, If I've offended people I'm sorry.

I'm not being an effective debater and to an extent its become more of a grim excercise then what its suppossed to be which is fun.

When girls break up with you they always say "Its not you its me" In this case its true.

So I'm going to take the 6 month challenge and walk away from it all.

I don't have anything really intelligent to say in closing. At the end of the day on boards like this and all other boards you become forgotten within days.

But in the words of another notorious poster, its time to step back and rip the bandage off and log out of this great world
