Wow! Kadlec with an amazing, absolutely last ditch deflection against Nani.

He is a great footballer, but I hate Ronaldo with the fire of a thousand suns.

The Czechs should hang their coach.

They were playing with house money..nothing to lose and they come out playing 9 men behind the ball taking absolutely no risks.

Ronaldo hit two posts and scored a goal. Czech Republic had zero shots on goal.

Portugal well deserved in this ugly game.

Forca Portugal!

Definitely well deserved. I don't understand the Czechs being that scared of Portugal. This game was won even before kickoff.

Heck I could have been Portugals goalie!

Ronaldo with a decent showing so far on the international stage. 3 goals in the tournament now and is unlucky not to have a couple more due to the woodwork and some flubbed chances.

If he has a good showing and they get past Spain/France to get into the finals he may have done enough to get me to stop saying he is a dissapointment on the international stage.

Honestly with his performance in Euro 2012 he is clearly better then Messi when it comes to performing on the international stage.

Czech had no right to even be in that match. They had absolutely no ambition whatsoever. Portugal fully deserved the win, much as I dislike them. They would be distinctly average without everyone's favourite cocky sob though. After saying that, at least they tried to win the match and play football.

If Portugal plays Spain they need to play them on equal footing. Don't play scared like that garbage they displayed in the 2010 World Cup eighth-finals.

You have the best player... attack Spain and make Ramos and Pique defend.

In the ever popular Ronaldo v Messi debate, I do present these international numbers for you.(goals in brackets)

Ronaldo has played in Euro 2004(2), 2008(1), 2012(3 so far) and WC 2006(1) and 2010(1). He has scored in every single tournament. Including game winners in three games in EURO 2008 vs Czechs, and EURO 2012 vs Holland and Czechs.

Messi has played in WC 2006, 2010 and Copa America 2007 and 2011. He only scored in WC 2006(1) and Copa 2007(2). He didn't score in the other 2 tournaments.

Just saying.....neither has been great but one has been better.

No question, Portugal deserved that win, but the Czechs let them have it. They were hardly tested.

He is a great player, but what a goof. I would be truly embarrassed to have that guy captain my team

Chinese man dies after Euro 2012 viewing marathon

A football-obsessed man from Changsha in south-central China has reportedly died after staying up for 11 successive nights to watch Euro 2012 matches.
Quote:
According to a report in Hunan province's Sanxiang Metropolis newspaper, the 26-year-old was found dead by his mother after his 11-day football-watching marathon, finally expiring after Ireland's 2-0 defeat to Italy on June 18.

The time-difference between Europe and China means that most of the Euro 2012 matches only start at 2.45am local time, finishing at daybreak.
Quote:
Liu Zhiling, a doctor from the local People's Hospital ER, told the newspaper: "Jiang was in good health. But staying up through the night and not sleeping enough weakened his immune system and he drank and smoked while watching the football, triggering his condition."
"If you use beer to replace water that is not good. Alcohol harms [the body]," Dr Liu added.
