why are humans sending our best people to Mars?

I think we should send our worst. You know, kill two birds with one stone.

Think strategically people.

I'd do it in a second even if there was a less than 50% chance I make it to Mars. Now THAT would be an experience! I wouldn't be a huge fan of the reality TV part of it but would live I with it.

Would we have to follow the laws and government of Earth or do we get to start from scratch?

Am I the only one willing to admit that I'd completely lose my #### within minutes of takeoff?

Might want to check your math on that.

Assuming 6000000000 earthly inhabitants, we would require 9,375,000 mi² for each to inhabit 1 acre. Texas is 268,820 mi². The entire US is 3,794,100 mi². NA is 9,540,198 mi².

Ignoring the fuzzy math, you have to realize that much of the Earth's land is not suitable for supporting large human populations and that already, most of our best agricultural land is now under cities.

You can't calculate the carrying capacity of the Earth as simply a formula of population and space.

I think it would be pretty cool for the first bit, but after a while you would get so depressed and eventually probably go mad.

Only seeing 3 other people for 2 years would be brutal, not to mention no fresh air, no views (space would probably get boring pretty fast). You would have no vacation, no sunshine to tan you... nothing.

Getting there would be amazing, but once again, coming to the realization that you are stuck forever on a bleak rock with no vegetation... would make me go insane.

So how well would our standard fire arms work on Mars? Because we would need to protect ourselves from the more aggressive Martian wildlife.

Earth's population is estimated at 7 billion now right?

A google search tells me there is roughly 172 million acres in Texas?

That means roughly 40 people per acre.....right?

I believe there are 640 acres per square mile......that would mean roughly 25600 people per square mile.....in Texas.

My friend keeps telling me that same thing about Texas. I think he heard it from Alex Jones. I call him on it every time, but I always forget to look up how many acres are in a square mile afterwards.

If movies hadn't taught me that anyone who goes on a mission like this inevitably winds up losing their #### and killing a bunch of people, it'd be a pretty spectacular way to be immortalized.

But I enjoy hamburgers and pizza and weed way too much to give it all up to live with three other #######s on Mars until I die.

I'll watch it though.

Sharon Stone always wants to kill you. It's just become less and less fun.

That's fair, Mars ain't the kind of place to raise your kids, in fact it's cold as hell.

Mars warmest weather is basically like Edmonton. Gets up to 10 above during the summer and drops to 40-50 below in the winter.

Why go through all the fun of interplanetary space travel, when you can just go to Edmonton. Plus the life forms there are even more strange than anything you'd encounter on Mars as well.
