I turned the video off in disgust when you got a look at the white "metal" trees outside the window. I hate those things. Thank god they cut down real trees to put them up.

The park and climbing wall looks kind of neat. Can't wait to see the finished product.

I'll wait to see the finished product before I pass judgement. The Gardens have always been one of my favourite things about downtown.

I like how the guy asks for Calgarians not to bring and turtles down to the gardens.

What's the bet on how fast turtles show up the gardens again?

I think it'll either be right away or not at all.

Form follows function, those "metal trees" are wind breaks to break up the wind shear off of Bankers Hall, it would be difficult to walk in the area if those were not there...

so what you are saying is that prior to those ugly white things, 8th Ave was a wind tunnel that no one could walk down. But know it is a calm street ideal for walking?

The area below Bankers Hall West is where the effects of the wind shear were felt the most, with the steel structures that effect was lessoned, so I have been told.
Wind shear is different then what you are describing as a wind tunnel...
Or the theory I like, is that they were erected to ruin undercoverbrothers day.

I remember there used to be real trees where the metal “trees” currently stand. It was nice. I must be honest, when I was walking down through that area, which I did for 3 years every day, I didn’t notice a decrease in wind. I did notice an increase in nice and snow falling from the metal “trees”.
Ah well.

I think there was an issue with growing trees in that location. The steel trees were erected shortly after the completion of BHW.
