Wow. First in the group and Russia not moving on, who would have thought. That last free kick was a little too close. Really liking what I am seeing from Pilar.

I guess nothing should be shocking with the crap group A but Russia looked like they actually belonged in this tournament which more than any of the other teams can say. Surprising to see them out and Greece and Czech through.

Never fun to see Greece's 11 men in the box and pray they score a lucky one style go through but both these teams should be out fairly easily against whoever moves on from group B so hopefully one more game will be end of them.

What a turn of events. Typical Russian work ethic on full display there. They had a team that could have potentially done some damage in this tournament and they just didnt want it.

First cohost down.

First Pool Update after Group A finishes.

Everyone's lost at least one team.

Greece shouldn't be able to play when others are paying for their team to be at the tourny. They have bigger problems than a football match.

Yeah, I mean, who wouldn't want a break from those bigger problems for a couple of hours? Sports is escapism, let them enjoy it.

Weak attempt at facetiousness or an absolutely terrible statement?

Does most of Africa stay home from the next World Cup?

Van Marwijk needs to abandon his policy of two holding midfielders for tonight's match. THey have great attacking options and need to score goals. Van Bommel and De Jong won't get it done for them.

I think we see Van der Vaart come on for one of them, probably De Jong.

Sneijder should move to the left, one of the holders should go and get VdV and Huntelaar in the line up. That would be a great attacking side.

Netherlands:

If Germany Wins, and NED wins by one, then the scores in the games matter.
1-0 NED win means that DEN advances if they score at least one goal vs Germany, and only lose by one.
One goal win for NED other than 1-0 means that Portugal advances.

If Denmark wins by 1 and Portugal Wins:
Tiebreakers are too complicated to waste my time on, lol.

I believe Portugal would win the group as they beat Denmark and the tiebreaker amongst two teams would be head to head.

If Denmark win 2-1 or by two or more goals in any scoreline and Portugal win, Denmarks wins and Portugal get second.

As a Portugal fan, I am happy that Germany aren't home and clear so they should beat Denmark and that means Portugal could win, draw or even lose 1-0 to Holland and still go thru.

I just wanted to quote these since these games are today.

If Denmark and Portugal win then it comes down to goal difference between them and the Germans followed by goals scored. Correct?

edit .... nm. just read vanflamesfan's synopsis.
