Preseason games mean absolutely nothing, especially the first one. Next week's will give better insight on the team, but really you can't judge much until week 1 of the season

Nah, you can jusge a QB's ability to read defences, you can probably judge that in preseason too.

Some observations:
-Fred Bennett (HB), solid player, good hands as well. Both ints were good catches. Impressed.
-Deron Mayo (OLB), guy can simply fly. Couple great plays on the punt coverage. Great containment when Masoli rolled out. Had a sack too, was in their kitchen.
-Jason Teague (HB), no hands whatsoever, 2 balls went right through his hands. He's lucky the one in the endzone wasn't caught by an Eskimo receiver right behind him.
-Joe Lobendahn still has it. Fast, could cut and solid on containment.
-Robert McCune, the guy is just a beast, as of right now I'd say he's the front runner with Simpson likely getting cut.
-Chris McCoy, got some good pressure. Wana see him more out there.
-Corey Mace, was penetrating up the middle, made a real nice spin move as well to beat his man.
-Arjeil Franklin, pack your bags. You're done.
-Bo Levi Mitchell, confident, good composure made some nice throws.
-Brad Sinopli, looks like he got the game winning drive (I stopped watching when he got in)
-Returners? all of them = terrible. Better sort this out Kilam or fire his ass.
-Drew Tate, not so impressive but he did have drop balls as well. He'll be fine.
-Didn't focus too much on the O-line, if someone can comment in them.
Work in progress!

I agree with you. I think Juan Simpson's days as a Stampeder are seriously numbered

The black pants have got to go. However, those edmonton road unis might be the worst jerseys in the history of sport.

On a first and 10 on their on 5 yard line, gets stuffed but breaks the tackle and goes backwards hoping to go the other way, but gets gang tackled into the endzone. Luckily an Eskimo had jumped offside so didn't hurt.
Right next play they go back to him, 1st and 5, he gets the yardage but fumbles the ball.
Ugly stuff. But he did have couple of nice runs though.

I am not sure Huf will cut Simpson but he definitely need to give Lobendahn another look and see. I definitely think McCune will be in the lineup on either MLB or DLine.
I am still wondering and questioning why they re-signed Arjei Franklin. I did not like the way he played the past few season and I thought this is a year they will give Parker more time to play. Also, they signed Chris Bauman and they still have good Canadian receivers that can play his position. I agree Franklin should be cut.
I love watching this guy Bo Levi Mitchell. He looks so calm and poised. I was also rooting for Sinopli to do well. One of them will be the 3rd stringer but whoever lose out on their battle for 3rd, i hope he stick around in practice roster instead of letting him go.
Walls, Tucker, McDaniel and even Talley didn't do much. We all know Taylor, maybe Talley will be in the lineup and I think McDaniel and Coker might be the 3rd and 4th option. The first two Walls and Tucker might be packing it in after this weekend.
What can we say about Drew Tate? Hmmm.. it's a pre-season and he is still rusty but I am still not sold on him. I am not saying he shouldn't be our starter but i hope he plays like the last 3 games last season and stays consistent during the season or else we will have a long summer.
OLine nothing much to say. I think they played well enough considering none of the starters played except for probably deWitt. I guess he struggled a bit at the beginning but he had a solid outing after.
I'll say Work in Progress especially on Tate and the offense. So far I like the defense last night and the special team coverage was good except for a couple of plays, one TD return and the other one where Maver save the TD.

The thing with Tate is he is a competitor, and he is amped up. He said he played terrible yesterday and didnt see the field well. He needs to really get into a groove on Friday. I've heard his camp has not been very good either from the blogs I've been reading which is even more concerning.
I thought BLM was great, hes got a big arm and he chucks it.
The D still looks suspect too me, but lets see what happens.
Its pre-season, but not a good start at all for the starters.

@SUNIanBusby: Stamps make cuts. Among notable names is veteran MLB Robert McCune, meaning the starting battle is now between Lobendahn and Simpson #cfl
@SUNIanBusby: Others getting released by Stamps: DL Asiodu, DB Clark, DB Teague, RB Tucker, R Walls, DL Renard Williams #cfl

McCune getting cut is a surprise. He'll be picked up by someone.
Those two fumbles on punt return did Tucker in

I was very surprised to see the Hammer got cut. I thought he's a sho-in for the team because of his versatility (can play MLB and DLine). The guy is a beast so I thought that was weird. I think one of the reason was his age (33). As much as I want to play in the CFL more, i hope the Eastern team picks him up and not BC, Edmonton or Saskatchewan.
Clark and Teague didn't really impress me against the Eskies. Teague seems to have problem catching the ball. He could have a couple of INT and lucky for him the Esk receiver didn't catch the ball either. Clark was a non-factor. Bennett really beat out Clark and Teague as a backup or even one of the starter in DB. Walls and Tucker dropped or messed up on their returns so no chance of unseating Taylor, Coker and Talley as a returner. Tucker didn't show he can beat out Coker as a backup RB while there are so many receivers that Walls has to take over before he can make the team. On the DLine, there was noone other McCoy stands out against the Eskies that's why I am not surprised about Williams and Asiodu getting cut.
Players in the bubble and need to play better against Saskatchewan exhibition: RB Matt Walter. I love to see this guy make it but if he plays the same way as he did last game, i'll say he'll be gone. I still think he learned from that first game's mistakes. R Arjei Franklin. I think Bauman, Forzani and Parker are ahead of him in the depth chart as Canadian receivers. Franklin didn't impress me against the Esk so he better play a lot better against Sask. Frankly, i wouldn't mind him getting cut anyways because I think Bauman has a better upside than him and also I want to see more of Forzani and Parker during the regular season.
