A bit of an insight as to why there were so many guards there.

Ugh....from the Sun article
Quote:
Originally from High Level, Shegelski was a newlywed. Her husband, Victor, did two tours of Afghanistan as a member of the Canadian Forces.
“They were so happy together,” Michelle Shegelski’s mother-in-law, Henrietta, said, before she and her husband began a long, sad journey to Edmonton from their home in Lac du Bonnet, Man. “My son had found a soul mate. He had been to Afghanistan and had gotten through without a scratch. This is just devastating. I can’t even think straight right now.”

I think was an execution and not a robbery. This guy was just a pathetic excuse for life so he chooses to destory the lives of people with a worth to planet earth. Hopefully he takes himself out and saves us the money of a trial.

Just wondering has it confirmed there was only one shooter? Seems crazy that one punk could take down 4 armed guards.
There sure has been a lot of shocking violence in Canada in the year 2012.

Maybe the trainees are more of a hindrance than a help? Or at least, perhaps he thought that.

Actually, Travis was likely one of the trainees. He just completed his in class training and gun qualification 3 months ago in Calgary.
As to answer HOOT, from what I can gather, it sounds like there were 2 training officers and 3 trainees, which would mean the actual armored truck was carrying the traditional 3 man unit (driver, guard and custodian) and the additional 2 guards coming in the service van. Not a common practice here in Calgary but sometimes they switch things up for training purposes.

If this guy had a previous criminal record, and was posting online about 'poping' people, how the hell did he managed to get/remain employed by this company where he is issued a firearm. Not very good security for a so-called security company.
Brutal.

My thoughts exactly.
The only thing that I can think, is that it take a long time to get a police check done and the company might have started training before it came through.
The more things come out, the more it becomes obvious that security company is going to take a ton of flak on this, and the repercussions will be felt around the entire industry.

Just finished reading this thread. Such a tragedy. My thoughts and prayers to the victims families. My God it must be devastating for the loved ones.

Did I miss an article or post on here confirming he has a previous record or is that all just speculation?

A memorial page on facebook for the three victims ( Michelle Shegelski, Eddie Rejano, and Brian Ilesic) of this piece of ####'s cowardly act. Matthew Schumann is the one currently in critical condition.

Is it just me or is there really a lot more crazy violence this year? I can't believe what people would do for maybe 10K.
