Nice to see some scoring but the breakdown on the Denmark goal was awful.
Hope Portugal goes for another but Bento likes to play it safe.

Hypotetical:
Portugal and Netherlands both win 2-1 today.
That would leave all four teams with a win and a loss, and all with 2 goals for a 2 goals against.
Who would advance if both final games end up in 1-1 draws? I'm assuming that if one game ended up as a 0-0 draw, and the other ended up in a 1-1 draw, both teams in the 1-1 game would advance, based on goals for.
...
Looking it up, it appears that it would go the the "National Team Coefficient Ranking System" which would mean that the highest two ranked teams going in would advance.
Quote:
If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the
following criteria are applied, in the order given; to determine the rankings:
a) higher number of points obtained in the matches among the teams in question;
b) superior goal difference in the matches among the teams in question (if more
than two teams finish equal on points);
c) higher number of goals scored in the matches among the teams in question (if
more than two teams finish equal on points);
d) superior goal difference in all the group matches;
e) higher number of goals scored in all the group matches;
f) position in the UEFA national team coefficient ranking system (see Annex I,
paragraph 1.2.2);
g) fair play conduct of the teams (final tournament);
h) drawing of lots.
|
Under the same scenario, if in the final matches, one game was won by a team and the other game ended in a tie, there would be penalty kicks to advance.

I am a big fan of the lack of penalties though. I think penalties are being given too freely.

Again, with that same scenario (2-1 wins for Portugal and Netherlands today):
In the final games, if one game was tied 1-1 at half, and the other game 0-0, shouldn't the team tied 0-0 agree to each score on their own net once to mutually increase their chances of advancing?
I suppose we should think further ahead, and the teams should just agree before the game to each put five goals into their own net in the first five minutes, and then play a normal game from there. However, then the teams in the otehr game would see the score in the other game, realize what was being done, and do the same thing themselves.
You heard it here first, this group will be decided by which pair of teams in the final games can score the most goals on itself.

Does the entire Poulson family tree play for Denmark? They have Christian Poulson on the bench, Jakob Poulson in the midfield and Simon Poulson on defence.

I can only imagine how hilarious that scenario would be if both teams bought in.
Just a barage of players going nuts to put it in their own net as quickly as possible with both games having basketball scores after 90 minutes.

What a miss to seal the deal.
And now the Danes punish Ronaldo for missing.
Denmark!! Bendtner finally comes good!
Now go and win this thing!

How awesome would it be if Denmark won the group? If they can hold on here they'll have a chance. Probably would have gotten pretty good odds on that before the tournament.

Something like 15-1.
They were 80-1 to win it all.

Nani, you're supposed to wait until you're in the box before you dive. Nice to see the ref didnt buy that one.
This is going to be a fun 10 minutes. The Danes are going to attack and the Portuguese are going to be giving the turf the thrashing of a lifetime by hurling their bodies at it.

I need to do that more often, just put 10 bucks on a very long shot. 80-1 is a pretty acceptable payout.
