Apparently one guy bought a crossbow for 185 mil in gold, if true that's cool $1,850. That's insane (and the crosbow wasn't even that good, high DPS but extra rolls were no good).
As for being bored with the game, I'm playing 2 chars simultaneously (wizard and DH) so I don't fall into too much stereotype game play wise (the same quests and locations over and over do get repetitive very quickly thought).
At the beginning I played solo, then switched to public games and never looked back. I think the game can be fun only if you play with other people who have diff characters. If you play solo and have to kite every mob...Not sure if I'd be still playing.

Well, they've put an "instance cap" on the game now .... so that sucks.

I just want to make $60 eventually. That'd mean I got this game for free.

If you do enough quick farm runs it basically locks you out from resuming/starting a game.

So the 50 odd attempts it took me to get the gibbering gemstone for the whimsy staff is against the rules now?

Exactly, its more like 5 or 6 per hour now just like WoW dungeons. They haven't announced the exact numbers and have disabled as of now until further notice but yeah this is basically to stop people from Treasure Goblin farming or chest spawn farming etc.

Logged in today to play after more then a week of being out of the country. Before I left I spend a good 3 hours farming the mats/gold for the staff of herding. In my jet laggedness I somehow sold the staff without noticing.
No warning, no notice.
And now they have made it even more annoying to rebuild. This above any of the other "end game" issues in Diablo 3 is making me want to drop the game entirely. Doubt I'll rebuild the damn staff... it's too annoying and the pay off is minimal.

Doesn't the vendor have a buyback pane where you can un-sell things you sold by accident?

I am almost 99.9% sure it cannot be vendored as it is marked as Cannot be Sold.

In regards to the staff. Do some searching, I saw on twitter a few other ppl having their staffs (staves?) disappear out of their inventories as well. There is a chance you didn't sell it. I have diablo, I'm just not particularly far, so i'm kind of vague on the exact details.

Yeah, that staff should never go anywhere. Can't sell, can't drop. I used to keep it in stash until I realized that, and now keep it on me so I never have to worry about having it or not.

IMO single player mode on normal is a joke. I topped out on the best equipment for my character halfway through due to the lack of books for the jewler and blacksmith in normal mode. All I did for the 2nd half of the game was collect items and sell or recycle. Takes the fun out of the game when you don't have the hope of getting better items and the Wizard's spells are so unbalanced that some are unstoppable while the others useless making there no point to experimentation. It doesn't help that a lot of the dungeons all look and feel the same where I would expect a game with a lengthly developement time to have more varrying settings. I assume things will be better in nightmare but the game has been a little underwhelming for me.

Running around with mobs following you while you kill them/wait for timers/regen.
Think of a kid running around trying to get a kite in the air.

It's mostly done by ranged classes. You run away from the mob while doing as much damage as you can. It's good if you can slow the mobs. You often want to do it in a circle if possible so you don't get backed into a corner.

I love the kiting down a long straight hallway with smokescreen to barrel back through them. For some reason it always makes me laugh.

When you're a monk kiting is often done with about 5 health left.
