To, me, the biggest thing keeping PHX from moving is the large lease break penalty clause in the arena lease. If the team is moved without the approval of the city of Glendale, I would think that the penalty would have to be paid.

As soon as the city of Glendale doesn't want to cover losses, then the team will be moved.

Found this kind of amusing... On the city of glendale homepage, right below the announcement of the vote in favor of the ransom deal, there is a link titled as follows:

"Attention: Important Information

Notice of potential sales tax, property tax and business fee increases."

I'm not sure if that old lease is even legally valid anymore. I think the bankruptcy wiped it out.

Vendor financing...hard to believe that the league owners would go there. They would need to be really sold on Jamison's game plan, or perhaps truly desperate to stay in that market.

Default I would not be suprised

To see the NHL finance the difference between the actual valuation of the team vs the 170 they are asking for. If the Blues sold for 120 and the Thrashers for 130, asking 170 for the Coyotes is a little out of line. This way Gary can say the NHL did not lose money it just won't collect right now.

So it sounds like the 4 yes's of Glendale are holding firm. Even in the event of the revote.

Jamison's gotta gather the funds

Fred Plante ‏@freddyplante@jclark RT @ceciliachan_AZ: All 14 speakers oppose sales tax increase” #Coyotes #Nordiques2012 #NHL#Glendale COGisJustIdiot #bankrupt

There seems to be little public support in Glendale for the deal.

Clark has been flaming Canadians a lot on twitter. Not very smart, when Canadians buy a large percentage of Coyotes tickets. Without Canadians, the Coyotes would have left years ago.

Is there any actual basis for that? There are a ton of non-Canadian snowbirds in the region.

Valo what is your reasoning for always defending the Coyotes in Phoenix? Are you from the area? Visit? What makes you think the NHL should be there?

You'd be shocked how many Canadian Coyotes fans are absolutely embarrassed by the behavior of their fellow Canadian hockey fans/media through all of this. As am I.

No, I understand the passion on every side of this. The #Coyotes twitter feed is fascinating.

Leave bad Coyotes deal alone
http://www.azcentral.com/members/Blog/RobertRobb/164301

The proposed deal to keep the Coyotes in Glendale is really bad. It crosses an important line between building a facility and subsidizing the hockey team’s operations.

And here’s what I think fiscal conservatives should do about it: Nothing.

Sometimes the most prudent thing to do about a bad deal is just to live with it.

Ballmer part of investor group for Seattle arena

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer will be part of the investment group led by Chris Hansen that has proposed a new NBA/NHL arena in the city of Seattle.

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/htm...ttlearena.html

Chris Reid ‏@chr1sreidRT @NHLwiki: #NHL-- According to Jim Small of the AZ Capitol Times, #Goldwater will be taking Glendale to court today over the #Coyotes.

Goldwater Institute to sue Glendale over Coyotes deal today

http://azcapitoltimes.com/news/2012/...es-deal-today/

Lucy Caldwell, a spokeswoman and lobbyist for the institute, said the lawsuit will argue that the city violated open meetings laws.

The lawsuit will claim that Glendale violated a 2009 court order when it approved the Coyotes deal on June 8 without having released all the exhibits and documents associated with the lease agreement.

Is it still possible to move the team before next season (if the financing doesn't come through)? If its still possible, what's the absolute latest cutoff date?

What happens if financing can't be figured out, and Glendale doesn't give the $25 million, and thefranchise can't be moved before next season?

It has been suggested that Quebec only needs 3 days to put a deal together. There are rumors of two schedules being drafted. There is also the very real possibility that the season will be delayed a month or two in CBA negotiations. However, there must be real deadlines very soon.
