Ya there was no doubt the ethernet would go at that thickness. There's still a usb adapter you can still get ethernet if you need it.
update: gigabit ethernet through firewire. That'll solve that.

It's not really surprising, actually. Wi-fi is ubiquitous now, and adding an ethernet port would likely increase the thickness of the laptop unless they used an adapter + dongle (very un-Apple like).
I'm sure someone will sell an ethernet-to-USB adapter for people who really need it, though.

It's over Thunderbolt so they can obtain Gigabit speeds I presume. Right now the USB To Ethernet by Apple isn't Gigabit.

My guess is these start at $2499 with smaller storage and maybe a couple of other sacrifices.

It got a decent spec bump but nothing crazy. Slightly cheaper I believe.

I'm guessing it'll start in the $2000-2200 range for the base model and go up depending on which options you want. They have to price it at least somewhat competitively. Charging $3000 for a computer is what nearly killed Apple in the mid-late 90s.

Competitive to what? This will be pro only imo. 3D rendering, HD editing. They're keeping the other models around, so there will be the option for the "cheaper" laptop.
edit: haha you're right, never mind! What a crazy aggressive price.
