As plays are moving from conventional to resource plays, geophysicists are playing a largely support role. The emotional investment in the work is declining.

Is that due to the exploration business becoming less of an "There Will Be Blood" kind of job, and more looking at playing with technology to extract more oil and gas from proven sites?

Hey you Geophysicist's....what kind of software applications do you use on a day to day basis?

Are there applications that are specific to Oilsands operations, or are there just regular O&G applications like AccuMap, geoScout, etc.?

I am a geographer GIS guy, but have 1/2 of a geology degree completed. I doubt I will ever complete that degree, but am chipping away at a MBA.

What strange parts of the world has everyone worked? I have been to about a dozen countries for work.
