Default Red Deer River Oil Spill

Anyone hear anything about this yet? Anyone close to the situation that can comment?

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/...rticle4241238/

Quote:
Plains Midstream Canada said it was notified about the leak near Sundre, Alta. Thursday night. The leak is 160,000 to 475,000 litres in size, which was released into Jackson Creek, which itself is stained with coffee-colour oil. Pools in nearby wetlands are coated with a thick layer of oil and the banks of the water ways are drenched in an oily sheen.

Mulcair will be all over this. But undoubtably this will hurt the efforts to get the Keystone and Northern Gateway pipelines built.

Timely. Definitely supports the position of those opposed to the northern pipe.

No one said that, but it's still the safest way to transport oil so hypocrites like yourself can maintain a 1st world lifestyle.

Just reiterating the mindless Northern Gateway pipeline rhetoric...

Watch for crippling fines to be handed down to Plains Midstream by the Province, like record setting, jaw dropping ones that make Syncrude's look like a speeding ticket. Even if they didnt do much wrong (which i doubt), Alberta really needs to look tough and aggressive on environmental damage.

They really have to come out strong, or the ######s like Mulcair will never stop demanding federal dominance of the industry.

Yeah if Plains somehow skates with a minor fine, thats only going to embolden the opposition parties. I would hope its going to be a massive fine (and of course covering any damages to property/clean up costs). Apparently this might be more of a problem with the oil sands bitumen because it contains more sulphur in it, which is a lot worse for the lining of a pipeline.

I wasnt referring to a post in this thread. Im referring to the general pipeline rhetoric of the government and enbridge for example... Didnt know a sarcastic remark with a touch of exaggeration would be such an issue.

Let's give Springs1 a bit more credit....it was 4 sides of ranch. And no free refills at fine dining.

Yeah ranch is pretty gross. Ironically Ms. 4 ranchs apparently only weights 90 something pounds, which seems impossible.
