I believe in the Jays.
|
I really think Denmark would have a really good shot at getting out of the group stages if they were in any other group besides their own.

They're my dark horse. I still think they can do damage in that group.
Other fearless(ridiculous) predictions:
Portugal and Denmark get of Group of Death, Germany and Holland booted in first round.
Russia and Denmark in the final
Italy doesn't score a goal
Spain gets knocked out at QTR stage.
okay.......crack pipe has been put down....for now.

Yeah, at the time of the draw, I think the Fifa worldwide rankings in that group were something like 2, 3, 7, 11.

Crackpipe nothing! Thats some serious chemical cocktail you're on!
I could see Italy not scoring a goal and Spain getting knocked out in the quarters though.

Italy will score a goal.. they're pretty high scoring in most tournaments contrary to popular belief.

I can see them being beat. The thing about Germany is that they have phases. I see them being strong contenders but some German teams were absolutely lethal and clinical and that was that, and others had a tendency to get all the way but not win.
Thats what this Germany team looks like to me. They've been to the World Cup Finals in 2002, finished third in 2006 and 2010, and lost in the Euro finals in 2008.
Then the core of the German National team has been to the Champions League final twice in three years and lost both times.
So, they're good and they're deep and they're powerful but I dont think they have what it takes to win it all. Sadly enough.

100% agree. I think they will get to the semis at least but do they have that extra push to take it all this year? Like you said the core is known for doing well but not being able to finish. Maybe some of the youth that has been added over the past two years will be the difference this time around. I certainly hope so. I'm tired of being so close to glory and then having to wait until the next tournament to (hopefully) see them deliver.
Come on Germany. This is the year we win.

I see England is bringing quite a few younger players, will they let these kids hit the pitch? Seems like using this tourney as a somewhat transitional period may be the best bet for them.

You lucky basterd.
Right now my girlfriend and I are debating doing something remarkably cool yet stupid.
If Germany or Holland make the final we're thinking about flying to Munich or Amsterdam to watch the game.

There have long been concerns that the ferocious rivalry between the two clubs may cause disharmony in the national set-up, and coach Vicente Del Bosque recently confirmed there were issues between Gerard Pique and Sergio Ramos. "If Pique and Ramos do not get along, they'll be dropped," Del Bosque said. "They are young kids with their differences, but we have no problems."
Xavi has now risked provoking the Real Madrid players in the squad as he repeated comments he made in January and April suggesting Barca's players have a more sporting approach.

Might have slept with a teammates wife, nope, I forgot, thats still acceptable.
Roy Hodgson is a good manager, but the best way to describe him is 'small time.'
For a middle or lower end of the table club, great. For a small nation's national team, okay. But once its big time he is out of his depth.

I'd say it has more to do with the fact that Lennon peaked two years ago and was god-awful in the World Cup.
