Not sure who watched the coverage today, but wow- Kevin Na is an incredible golfer considering how many mental demons he seems to struggle with in his pre shot routine. I've also heard a few people mention that he is the nicest golfer on the pro tour- Ive noticed he's very honest and humble in his interviews as well.
Isn't he the guy that a made 12 or something couple months back? Had the audio of him and his caddy trying to figure out how many shots it was?
It was a 16, it happened a year ago at the Valero Texas Open. When he passed by the spot this year he left a similar golf shirt hanging in the area where he went in. Didn't help, he missed the cut.

So Zach Johnson survives a two stroke penalty on the final hole, didn't remark his ball after moving it. Jason Dufner second, on an incredible run lately.

Dufner was perfect for 62 holes.. than the final 10 he hit in the water twice.

Tiger has jumped into the lead at the Memorial... one of the biggest stops on the regular tour schedule. All parts of his game seem to be clicking right now, and that's with some pretty rough conditions on the course.
Muirfield is hard enough as is, with the course in its current shape its playing almost US Open tough. Still haven't seen Tiger do it consistently on the weekends though, this should be a good test for him.

So that childish idiot who throws golf clubs, spits on the golf course, curses too, is back to his old ways when he was successful of doing hookers and blow?
To me the timing of tiger's win is interesting as the golf media will now focus on him as we head into the US Open. It should take some of the media attention away from a few guys.

That second shot on 16 might be the shot that got him back on top of the golf world. Or it will be just another great shot that won him a tournament. But it flipped the tourney in his favor as that hole was brutally difficult in that wind, and to put a two on the card when everyone else was carding 4 was pretty significant.

What a win for Tiger. Birdieing 3 of the last 4 holes including that RIDICULOUS hole-out on 16, wow. I loved when they had the camera on Jack when he was sitting down by 18th green after Tiger had finished, and you could hear Jack recounting the great shots tiger hit down the stretch to whoever was sitting next to him, then say "Now that's how you close out a golf tournament." Respect from one great champion to another.
Tiger is never going to dominate golf like he once did. That era is over and it has as much or more to do with the fact everyone else has caught up to Tiger than it does Tiger not being on top of his game. When Tiger was dominating at historic levels, he was still really one of the few guys on tour who approached the game with hardcore fitness and weight training. Now basically everyone under 30 is like that, so while this was once a huge advantage for Tiger, its been neutralized. He's also not feared mentally as much by other golfers.

I think there's still some intimidation there. Yesterday Ricky Fowler, who has been as hot the last few weeks as anyone, shot 84! playing with Tiger. And once that hole-out on 16 went in and the roar went up from the Tiger gallery, the other guys knew they were done.

I disagree a little bit with the notion that everyone else has caught up. I think the caliber of Tiger's competition 10 years ago was just as good as it is today- the problem imo is that Tiger just isn't as miraculous as he used to be- specifically, he isn't miraculous nowadays with recovery shots from bad lies. With the exception of yesterday's hole out at 16, most of Tiger's miraculous shots from really bad spots took place before 2006. Even though he would seem to have more strength and muscle mass now than ever before, the wear and tear his knee has endured, along with age, prevents him from producing the kind of shots from the rough and fairway bunkers that he used to (and no one else could).
Here are two examples:
190 yds from the deep rough with a pitching wedge, over two trees
213 yds on an uphill lie from a fairway bunker with a 6 iron (par 5) start at 1:37

See the reason I don't buy Tiger scaring people like he used to has been his play in majors. Like last year at the Masters on Sunday, makes an incredible run, ties himself for the lead. With early 2000s Tiger that would be it and everyone would fold and he'd walk away with the jacket, except Tiger didn't even finish top 3 because Adam Scott, Jason Day and Charl Schwartzel didn't run and hide, they stepped it up. Hell even last year in a silly season event Graeme McDowell kept having Tiger knocking it close at the end of the round and he matched him shot for shot, which again when Tiger was at his dominant peak would never happen.
Once Tiger fell to Y.E. Yang that was sort of the end of his mental dominance of others. Can he still do it? Sure, but the top of yesterdays field wasn't exactly the strongest group he brought down. I still want to see it in majors, and no doubt so does he. If he wins 30 more tournaments between now and when he retires and 0 majors you know he's gonna view it as a massive failure. Tiger is about the majors first and foremost.

Really, given the calibre of today's players I think it's going to be tough to win more than 2-3 majors after he turns 40. So really he's got the next 5 years of so to try and win 3 or 4 majors.
I don't think he'll dominate to the level he did in the past....but to become the top player in the world again, win 1 major and 3 other tourneys and make the cut nearly every week isn't out of the question. Two tour wins in the same season is a great accomplishment for a lot of the other players on the tour.

I think Tiger can be the best in the world again, but yeah the competition level is truly much higher than it was in the early 2000s. I don't really see any more multiple major seasons. I think it's great personally that the level of competition has gotten as high as it has, makes the majors especially more fun to watch.
