Edmonton teacher suspended for giving zero's
I read this earlier today and still can't believe it.
Quote:
An Edmonton high school teacher says he has been suspended for giving students zeros on uncompleted assignments or exams.
Lynden Dorval, a physics teacher at Ross Sheppard High School, has been giving the mark for work that wasn't handed in or tests not taken even though it goes against the school's "no-zero" policy.

And this response from a student:

"If students show up they deserve a minimum mark. A zero seems a bit extreme."

Why doesn't the guy just give them 1%? It's not like that would make a difference. It's practically giving them a zero while circumventing the stupid policy.

so you would give a zero to a student who has incompleted assignments?
the definition of "incomplete" also includes partially complete

not if they don't hand them in. if it's not done, then hand it in half done, maybe you get half marks......

A school trying to artificially inflate how good it looks academically.

She is lucky her name isn't searchable. Even at grade 11 that is a career limiting comment to be throwing out on the net.

When did Edmonton suddenly implement some kind of stupid "no child left behind" type policy? If they don't even hand in anything, they deserve a zero.
I don't get it, don't Canadian schools have some sort of standardized curriculum and grading guidelines?

I just love how our high school systems try as hard as they can to prepare our children for University.
These little #######s are in for a rude awakening.
