1.) Does facetime work on wifi only? ie/ do you need a 3G connect and wifi, or just wifi?
2.) Can I share aps between ipads by using the same apple id, but then use a different apple id for gamecentre and facetime? (I called the apple store and they said yes, but I wanted to confirm with someone who may already be in the same situation).
I want to be able to share aps so I don't have to double purchase everything, but I still want to be able to communicate between the two with facetime.
Hope this makes sense, and let me know what you guys think? I haven't had much luck looking online, but the guy at the apple store said yes- just looking for a second opinion before we go drop a grand on electronic toys.

Wifi needed for Facetime, no 3G (or 4G) required that I am aware of. My wife's Wifi iPad2 does Facetime no problem.
I have never used facetime, but all our iDevices are on the same apple ID and the GameCenter and the Apple messaging uses the same ID. Not sure if you can change that or not, but it is kind of annoying, so let us know if you figure out a way around it. I assume Facetime would be the same, but it is not something i ever use so cannot be sure.

Yes, you'll be fine. My wife and I have iPhones and a single iPad and we use the same Apple ID for app purchases. When setting up FaceTime you can specify which email address (or addresses) you'd like to be reached at. As for game centre/messages it just asks for an Apple ID, it doesn't need to be the same one you use in the app store or for iCloud. We had to create an Apple ID for my wife so she could have GameCentre unique to her (we just didn't attach it to a credit card).
And like Rathji said, FaceTime and messages only require wifi.

Can you change that after it is initially set up? I remember poking around trying to change it for my wife and it never worked for us.
Also, are there any issues with having multiple IDs related to a device? like the wrong one being entered when buying/updating apps?

Luckily the iPad was a gift so that takes a bit of sting out of it. But my credit card is getting a workout. Oh it's just 99 cents, oh it's just a $1.99...oh my bill is $150. Crap!
Will setting it up to be a hotspot for my ipad be a pretty easy process?

Very. (assuming its included in your cellular plan).
Settings-->Network-->Personal hotspot On. Enter the password and just join it on the iPad like a regular Wifi

Confirmed my plan will work.
Does the hotspot use more data than normal, or would it equal the same?

ipad won't use mobile sites, so a bit more, but on the same app the same usage would apply.

I was able to log out of my game centre and into a different account, so hopefully your issue was one that has been fixed.
I have an old American iTunes account that I use for apps only available in the states (there's only 1 or 2 at this point), and it's much more doable than it used to be. When it comes time to update the app it'll just prompt you for the apple id that purchased the app. It used to be that you had to go to the store, sign out, sign in with the alt account, go back to the app update screen, update, back to the store, sign out and sign in with your primary account. It was a giant hassle, but is much better now.

I didn't own an Ipad 2 so I can't really compare them, but I've watched 4 hours of video on my Ipad 3 since Friday along with everything else (games, email, web browsing), and haven't charged it since Thursday night and I'm still at 76% battery. It's pretty impressive.

Anyone else having problems with the new iPad dropping hotspot connection? I use the hotspot functionality of my iPhone (4s) and the iPad keeps dropping the connection.

Wasn't there a connection issue with Ipad that was supposed to be corrected in the latest ios update?

Way to lazy to search, but do any of you guys have an anti-glare screen/cover you enjoy? Looking for something to make the iPad more readable outdoors/on the train.

Just got my 4S today in the mail. Pretty slick looking phone, what's next a MacBook?
Anyone got an links or advice for hooking up the iPhone and iPad so contacts, notes, calendar, etc. I haven't even turned the phone on so hopefully this isn't a dumb question and it's two buttons or something.
Only thing I don't want to sync is my movies on my iPad and music on my iPhone, trying to keep them separate. Don't want to derail the thread too much but wasn't sure where to fit it and figured it wasn't worth it's own thread.

You can sync your contacts, cal etc through Google Sync if you have your stuff on there. Or iCloud if you set that up (works on Windows too I think). It's pretty easy though. If you have any problems PM me

What are your contacts, notes, calendar stored on right now?

Each device in iTunes has its own tabs for music/movies/etc. where you can select what you want synced.

I don't really have them saved on anything besides my Blackberry. I guess my question should now be what service should I use? Google, iCloud, another service?
Edit: looks like I am currently using iCloud because some stuff has transferred over to my iPhone when I just booted it up but I'm game for changing it up if there is a better option.
I'm basically starting fresh because I never put much on my iPad contact or calendar related because I wasn't planning on getting an iPhone, at least not this soon.
Outside of a iPod shuffle these are my first Apple products, well unless you count my sweet computer from the 90's , so I'm pretty open to any suggestions to make things as seamless as possible.

It's pretty easy to jump from one service to the other, but since you don't have any other apple products I'd lean towards Google. If you had an Apple computer perhaps iCloud would be less hassle, but until you do Google might be the way to go. iCloud on an Apple computer is pretty seamless as all the included applications have it built in already. For the record I haven't used a PC in years so I have no clue how well they handle iCloud stuff.
