Default I reward you with...... a Lexus!

In the Calgary Herald today:

Russian President Vladimir Putin praised the country's Olympic medallists Monday, and then told them that they will each be given a new car.

The men will get a Toyota Land Cruiser, while the women will receive a Lexus.

Russian's Drive rewarded (subcription required, but not much there)

And what do we reward our Canadian athletes with? "Right then, good show, see you in 4 years." I'm not saying they should all get a Lexus for winning a medal, but increased funding for their training might be a good start.

Disclaimer: Lexus may contain odd stains in back seat and/or trunk. Any strange odours emminanting from these locations should be ignored. If groaning sounds come from your trunk, do not attempt to open it, instead - immediatly proceed to your dealer for "service".

How else do you think they got 7 more medals this Olympics? How do you think they plan on being #1 in Vancouver? Its already happening.

I think the COC should reward our medalists with cash. Something like the States $25k for Gold $15k for Silver and $10k for bronze

They have increased it, and will continue to as well in preperation for 2010. Still, Canadian athletes deserve much more funding than they get. Not too many of the world's top countries require thier Olympic hopefuls to work at a job on top of the countless hours of training. Imagine how many more medals we'd win if everyone was able to put that extra time into training.

well the government already provides dole for athletes.....and that comes out of our pocket so to speak...so why not just use proceeds from say...Lotto 6-49 or Super 7...or better yet give BIG tax deductions to corporate citizens who take care of athletes?
