I'm reading that book right now "Born to Run". I bought it for my wife for her birthday 2 years ago and she's read it twice. She says it's fantastic and a must read. It was recommended by someone here on Calgarypuck.

There is a Born to Run movie comming out sometime soon? Also Caballo Blanco used to post on the Runnersworld forums and it was legit. Very surreal when he used to post. Interesting that an ultra runner from Calgary was one of the guys they sent in try recover the body.

If she hasn't read it already on her next birthday get her "Once a Runner" by John L. Parker. Not quite as good as "Born to Run" but also a good read!

I've read Born to Run and it's an awesome book. I can't remember if I'm the one who recommended it before... but I would recommend it to anyone who has any interest in running. I was very sad to hear the news of "Caballo Blanco" going missing... then shortly after turning up dead. I guess he died doing what he loved the most, so what more could one ask for.

RIP Micah

Yep, sounds like it was from natural causes. Ultra runners are wired differently and there have been many similar situations in the last few years. If anyone should be packing a SPOT or McMurdo device it should be ultra runners, although as with this example it is hard to get to them when they get themselves into trouble.

I would even recommend it to the non-runner. It's such a fascinating book and so unbelievable what the Tarahumara can do, it seems fictional.

Man, tough but enjoyable read. Makes me want to hit the trails. Went for a run alone in the woods May long. Wanted to get away from the camping scene and do something I enjoy. Went for awile - ditto on my bike, but my nervousness of being alone in the woods in bear country had me back after an hour or so each time.

Been meaning to read the book, maybe I'll pick it up. Heard about it often enough, but it always sounded like some book that made people think "oh wow, running sounds so fun and wonderful" which wasn't news to me (or I'm sure millions of people) and I didn't need some book to tell me lol.

Read the book, great book - sure was wrong about my original thoughts...

That last chapter about the run was sure a tear jerker. Caught myself near choke-up a few times. Those two kids were hilarious too!

A100 mile run, wowsers.

Do the ladies enjoy these books more than 50 shades of grey?

Is that a legitimate question or are you sarcastically calling everyone who enjoys this book or running a chick? I'm not actually sure.
