Yes sorry, when I say DPS I mean the number it shows under 'Damage' in my character pane. It hover at around 2300-2400, and then when I use Wrath of The Berserker it goes up over 8000.
Thanks, now I just need to feel bad because my damage is so low!

The Auction House is your friend. Doing a search for weapons for my specific level resulted in going from a 15 dps weapon to two 27 dps weapons. Massive increase in output.
I think I'll be heading to the AH every 3-5 levels to upgrade my weapons (and perhaps other equipment).
Also a much better place to sell stuff. I sold a ton of items for 1k gold last night. Better than the 59 gold the vendor was going to pay.

I think the Auction House makes the gem crafter and blacksmith virtually useless.
I believe that as you can make your own unique sets as the blacksmith, so there appears to be some incentive to keep levelling it up. I've actually made some decent stuff while blacksmithing. Probably cheaper to buy gear on the AH, but it's still worth it to dump money into the upgrades IMO.

Would that cash have been better spent on the AH? Perhaps, but I believe the blacksmith upgrades are across all character?
Yup, BS and Gems guy upgrades carry across all characters.
Gems are actually really cheap on the AH as well. I've picked up some gems that would cost me way more to make on my own.
Figured this out this morning. I have been scraping and almost had enough for my second flawed ruby, went on the AH and bought 2 Rubies for 2k each. Huge damage upgrade to my bows.
Btw, I hate Belial.
Spoiler!
Died probably 10 times on that fight last night. Maybe I am just too much of a glass cannon but I get him down about half way and the exploding poison puddles just take me out.
Can't vault around it, can't ever seem to time a heal. Tried followers and the templar helps a bit as he will randomly heal me. I think if I had a second player in the group to grab health pods it might work out a lot better.
I am level 26 Demon Hunter. Playing mostly solo, and occasionally with follower.
Gear is mostly + damage, and + dex, with some regen. Been playing with an off hand crossbow instead of a quiver, but until I get another level (or find a new bow) I am waiting on level 28 to use one I just crafted.

I have seen some Unique items become available from the smith. I don't know if it is worth the cost when you can get to 60 through the auction house and pick and choose the item you want instead of lucking out.
If you could carry your blacksmith over to other characters it would make it worth it.
Yeah I stopped scrapping my magic items through the blacksmith when I found out average price for blacksmith raw materials is 20 gold, and I can sell the magic item to the vendor for 5x that.
And now anything I try to make at the blacksmith is 4-5 levels above me, so using the AH to upgrade (though haven't needed to, been finding good weapons through drops lately).

Blacksmith does carry over between characters
The BS sets you can make can be legendary sets - that's why I'm going to level the bad boy up.

Got back from vacation and I am now uploading Diablo III onto my YouTube Feel free to check it out, but I did just start last night and was delayed due to vacation! I also have minecraft on there!
I just tried selling a few of my rares on the AH and they sold right away, I guess I underpriced them.
It just doesn't make any sense for a level 15 bow to sell for 40,000, or 100,000. Is that just people fishing? Or do they actually sell for that?
Gotta be fishing.
I posted some rares I had come up a couple days ago, for less than what everyone else was selling similar levelled weapons for, and not even a single bid on any of them.
Maybe they just really suck compared to what else is out there.

I did bring that up from 80 with a few thousand gold on the AH though, rubies really crank up a weapon.
You'll find that that number will spike. I finished up normal on my Wizard (level 32), and now my damage number says 504. Though magic classes are harder to guess actual output, based on skills.
I don't really worry about the numbers, just about how fast things die and if I'm still alive after the fight.
If I could recommend three things for heading into Hell they would be:
1. Stack as much of your primary stats as possible (Strength and Vitality on my barb)
2. Try to keep a high dps weapon, and if possible, use a shield
3. Look for gear with elemental and physical resistance on it

Yeah, after switching to the weapons I just got off the AH, and putting a couple of good gems in them (one's like +8 or +10 to damage, the other is +15 health per hit), most fights are way faster now and rarely do I even go down health, let alone need to use a potion or any healing ability.
