May 8th, COG Council Meeting:
http://glendale-az.granicus.com/Medi...publish_id=522
The Coyotes are discussed by council members towards the end of the video.
Scruggs offers her opinion around 2:32. "No deal in writing".

There are dozens upon dozens of sports franchises and other pursuits that rich people invest billions of dollars in based on vanity.

true enough...but its taking an awfully long time to sell the team...vanity in owning an EPL team or an NFL team is one thing...an NHL franchise in Phoenix is another thing altogether apparently.

Will institute body-check agreement on Coyotes?
http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepu...s-montini.html
McCain wants the Goldwater people to consider the greater good, by which he means keeping the hockey team in the Valley.
But Goldwater attorney Carrie Ann Sitren told me, "The gift clause is there as a protection for taxpayers. It IS for the greater good."
On his radio show, Bickley asked the senator, "Could we ever get past this and say, 'Look, we have to help (team owners) in the short term because the cost of losing them would be greater.' Why doesn't that ever work?"
McCain answered, "It's beyond my comprehension ... I don't get it, and I think it's pretty clear that there would be a virtual collapse (in Glendale) with all those businesses and land values. And God knows Arizona has been through enough without feeling the effect of the departure of the Coyotes."
Sitren isn't buying that, either. She said that it "certainly isn't true" that business people can't afford to use their own money, not taxpayers', to build and maintain arenas or fund a sports franchise.
"It's hard to go back and look at agreements from years ago," she said. "But we are here now. We have our legal center now, and we are ready to protect taxpayers. If it has to be in the courts then we will end up in the court."

Goldwater reminds me of a patent troll. They talk big about using the courts in their bids to threaten, scare and extort their opponent, but the last thing they want to do is actually go to court.

Ebay. Never mind that it looks like a fake, the description says it's legit.

Huh? The Cup? What are you even talking about? The Coyotes are down 1-0 in the Conference final and you're talking about the Cup costing taxpayers money? Not only does the Cup have nothing to do with any of this, even if it did your argument is complete nonsense.

^ sorry, i was merely trying to make a silly comment on how if the fans in phoenix are chanting how they want the cup, then it will cost them thanks to the fact that the CoG has underwritten 50 million of thier losses and will likely be on the hook for more again this year.......
I have no argument other than it seems pretty clear that no matter what happens the team should be moved somewhere elese.

Have you? (seriously, seems like if anyone here has you would)
There's no indication that the CoG is looking to finance their end through a bond issuance. If that was the case it would have been at least hinted at in one of the council meetings. If Jamison is debt financing it's pretty unlikely that he'd be doing so through a public bond offering, it's more likely to be a private arrangement.

This is an ownership group with private investors.. Bill Daly has been on record stating that a future deal wouldn't include bond money.
I have no reason to make this up, and will find quotes later if I can find the time.
This deal will not include the sale of municipal bonds
In this case, trust me..

Any idea what Tippet's contract status is?
Ho will the new owners hang on to the Coyote's best asset?

i was under the impression that the arena management fee will be crucial to making this deal work - I don't recall reading anything about bonds
