Default Getting Rid of Beehives

Wife just found a beehive in our shed. What is the best & cheapest way to get rid of it? Do I just go to Home Depot and buy some spray? Is it that easy? I’m sure others here have encountered a beehive or two on their property. How did you get rid of it?
Thanks in advance CP!

Negotiate a time-share with them; offer them the shed during work hours in exchange for protection from EasyMax reps and people who don't clean up their dog's poo.

Wow- 7 replies and so far no Youtube of the "beemanity" fireball; nor the "bees/beads" gif. I'm impressed.

What about contacting these guys to remove it:

If it is bees I think I've read a bee keeper will happily try to take the swarm off your hands.

If it is wasps, nuke them from orbit - it is the only way.

If it's bees find someone to come and take it away. If it's wasps burn your shed to the ground followed by your house. One might escape in the direction of your house and might as well be sure to get em.

For wasps a shotgun blast does wonders to destroy a nest. Shoot the nest and then stay in a hotel for a day or two. When you return they will all have left.
I can't condone harming bees though so try this idea from last years bees thread.

Black Bears got rid of my Dad's beehives (he tried beekeeping as a hobby).

I would definitely discourage you from killing any bees, in light of their vital role and their dwindling populations.

The link Ken posted has some steps and phone numbers under the "Swarms and Swarm Catchers" tab.

release the bees or the hounds, or the hounds that shoot bees from thier mouths.......

if it was the winter i am guessing the nest would be more easy to manage - I think I'd just call an exterminator......
