Milos is probably loving this slippery quick blue stuff. what a travesty that either him or Fed will be gone tomorrow, his ranking is so unrepresentative of what he really is. I'd say he's already passing perpetual underachievers like Berdych, Tsonga, Monfils, etc in terms of danger to the big 3 (that's right, 3, not 4)

Wait till he plays a full North American hardcourt season.

Looks like Sportsnet One will have it....one person is saying noon Calgary time...another 5am. I'm not sure which. This is from the Sportsnet Twitter account: Tune in to see #Raonic vs. #Federer LIVE on #Sportsnet ONE tomorrow morning at 7 am ET http://bit.ly/JbSI3s

That's weird. Milos and Federer are the 2nd night match on the stadium court. They won't play until at least noon Mountain (8pm in Madrid). So it should be on tv.

The ATP site has their match starting at 19:00 local time, so 11:00 in Calgary?

They have to wait for the ladies (Azarenka/Ivanovic) to slug it out first.

Sometimes the commentary on the international feed that Sportsnet picks up is hilarious.

Quote:
Jason Goodall : Can you sack the wife as coach?
Robbie Koenig : Got to be very careful and tell her what a great job she has been doing and tell her she needs some time off.
Goodall : Yes, like move her to the position Director of Football

Davydenko hits a winning smash.

Koenig : He's always had a good one of those
Goodall : Smash or wife?
Koenig : Both

Federer seems a little off after losing the first set. Let's go Milos!

Milos couldn't get the break in that long game though, might come back to bite him.

As a casual tennis fan, this is great to have a strong Canadian to root for. It's making my day at the office go by so much faster!

tough loss for Milos. Hopefully he can get some momentum from taking such a great player to their max.

Milos needs to keep plugging away and get the ranking to top 10. These draws are killing him. He needs his own 8th of the draw like Isner has right now.

the way Milos played today likely beats everyone except the Big 3...hope he takes the positive out of this, no shame pushing the GOAT to a final tiebreak.

Taking into account my Canadian bias, I'd put his serve in the top 3 on tour already...reliably hits all corners of the box with ridiculous kick. Forehand is obviously his bread and butter and is slowly getting more reliable. Backhand is just ok, he doesn't have to develop it into a weapon but could use more work on it so that he doesn't give up ground when using it.

Most encouraging thing for me is his movement for a big guy, and the patience to wait for an opening instead of just trying to blast low percentage shots. I think he'll finally get proper seeding inside the top 15 before the end of the year.

bah. all this Milos praise and he craps the bed today at Rome. Had Madrid even ended before he got knocked out of the next one?

anyhow, yay Fed the new #2. first player ever to win at least 10 tourneys on 3 different surfaces. don't think he'll be so dominant on the more traditional Roman clay, but only has to get past the 3rd round to ensure he goes into Paris opposite the Djoker.

Roland Garros starts on Sunday and there will be THREE Canadian men in the main draw. Milos Raonic will be seeded around #22. Vasek Pospisil is in and Frank Dancevic just snuck in last night before the qualifying draw as Kei Nishikori dropped out.

Also Peter Polansky has won his 1st of 3 qualifynig matches so there would be a 4th Canadian!

For the women #54 Wozniak and #88 Dubois are in. Fichman and El Tabakh are in qualifying. Marino is injured.
