The Samsung Galaxy S3
All the big Apple press conferences get their own thread...how about one for Samsung's next big press conference?
http://www.thenextgalaxy.com
You can watch the event at noon Calgary time tomorrow at the above URL. Or download the Unpacked app on your device.
We know it's going to be the Galaxy S3 launch, and there are so many questions to be answered. How large will it be? LTE? Quad-core? (Likely LTE and dual core for our version), and when will it be available? I've even heard mentions of a blue and white version.
There's also been rumors that more than one device will be announced.
We'll find out tomorrow. Enjoy, fandroids!

for the LTE version, something about the radio just not working with quad core processors
i'm actually not amped at all for the reveal. i'm sure it will be nice, but i have no intention of buying an S3. the S2 is more than powerful enough for what i need and with such a huge development community behind it i know i'll be able to have the latest OS updates for years to come. i'll save my money for the S4 or S5

All I can say about the dual core is this: I have a dual HTC One X in front of me, and it is without question the best phone ever made. Snappier on the stock ROM than even the quickest custom kernels on any other Android phone I've used. Can't wait till devs really unleash this thing. The whole dual core vs quad core thing is way out of hand, especially with the One X... the dual is benchmarking on par with the Tegra, and you get LTE. It's a no-brainer, IMO.
I'm actually returning this One X and sticking with my Nexus because at this point I refuse to use anything other than a Nexus... but I'm excited for the GS3 announcement.

So is it just that you view the S3 as not a large enough upgrade from the S2? My buddy has an S2 and it's a very impressive phone for sure.
I still have a flip phone and for my first smart phone I was originally going to get the Nexus, but the more I read about the S3 the more interested I became and decided to wait to get it.

I'm going to stay away from the press conference. I'll just wait for the summary on Verge.
I'm still on my SE Xperia X10, so this should be the phone I will be upgrading to. My internet speed is plenty fast, so I might have to go for the quad core version. I just hope the camera quality is great. I miss my Nokia N95 with 5mp Carl Zeiss lens.

Dual core vs quad core. Who cares.... nothing on these phones is slowing them down much. I just wish they came with bigger batteries.
The S4 will be my next phone.

Engadget has a hands-on. Only downer is that is is a PenTile display. Otherwise, it looks pretty sweet!

Meh, HTC One X is still a better phone.
Samsung kind of dropped the ball on this one.

I actually really like it.
But, I'll still get the Galaxy Nexus instead. Better developer support.

Not too hard to get better developer support over a phone that's just been announced.

Well I meant in general over any Android phone. Although the S2 is not far behind, and the original Galaxy S not far behind it either.

/sigh
This phone will be 6 months old before I'm eligible for a HUP. Although, it gives me enough time to figure out how to get the best price while on a $27/month plan. I'm still a little shocked they let me do that with the Captivate.

I'm due for a new phone and contract soon. I might consider this but then I'll have to use my old phone on a prepaid month-by-month plan until it's released.

Why would you have to prepay if you dont have a contract?
