Not sure what Fincher's miss was, outside of Alien 3. Everything else he has done has been solid IMO.
Nolan, Fincher and Quentin are my fav directors and haven't done much wrong in their work.

Zodiac was a dud. It could have been much better.

UN THANKS. Zodiac is one of the more underrated movies from the 2000-2010 decade.
Fincher's best outside of Seven. A great story, but it was a different take to the story as opposed to just an ordinary "catch the serial killer" kind of movie. Fincher did an awesome job in capturing Graysmith's obsession.
IMO of course.

Actually, it was totally a "catch the killer". Oh man, the investigation takes a toll on his marriage ... lets toss another cliche in there. What annoyed me the most about it was this build up towards it's suspect, an abrupt 180 towards someone else and then basically announcing at the end that "oh it was the first guy after all"
I was totally disappointed, I wanted it to be great.

^ But that is what really happened to Graysmith. It's hard to fault Fincher for trying to be as true to the story as possible.
I actually think it is my favorite Fincher movie (yes even better than Se7en). Maybe that's in part because I have read and watched a ton of stuff on the Zodiac killer and it came as close to the real thing as you could hope. The casting was flawless from top to bottom. That and the whole feel and tone of the movie perfectly suited the time.
The only tiny issue I have with it is that it doesn't really commit to one person being the likely killer. They left it open ended that is may have been Arthur Lee Allen or it could have been this guy: Sorry not sure how to embed this one.

Now while I watch Se7en more often, an inexperienced Brad Pitt doesn't quite compare to Gyllenhaal and the scenes with Paltrow are uneven. If it weren't for Freeman and Spacey that movie would be pretty ordinary imo.

I guess it was just the tangent off to that other guy who did the movie posters and the basement scene which in the end added nothing to the story that pissed me off.
The actors were great it in, but I don't think it was a great movie.

So the scene in the clip I posted then? Yeah I agree with you, it does feel out of place, especially considering that was near the end of the movie.

The more intriguing and more important storyline of the movie was not the investigation, but it was the toll it took on him. We see cookie cutter killer stories all the time and Zodiac took it in a different direction.
And if that's how the investigation went in real life, you want the movie to just make things up to fit what would be a more entertaining final act?
We aren't going to see eye to eye, that's cool.

That and no one needs to remind of the last time Bane was "jacked up".... The Nolan look is the way to go, makes Bane look more authentic to say the least.

That outfit is horrendous, though. It looks more ridiculous than the comic book Bane. I get what Nolan's vision is, but I'd still like to see a Batman movie done right that's set in the actual Batman universe from the comics.

Panic Room was worse than Zodiac. Zodiac was just okay. I also didn't care that much for Benjamin Button, or the Social Network (Jesse Eisenberg probably being a big reason) either.
Fincher has made some great films, but I think Nolans body of work is much stronger. I also give the creative edge to Nolan as him and his brother have come up with original concepts and storys for his films.

play Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, that's about as close as you're gonna get. Mark Hamill nails his role out of the park too

Translating the comic book world in the movie has rarely been done... Watchmen, Sin City, 300 are the few I can think of that have made the full transition.
Like Hemi said, play the video games, might be as close as you get.

Depending on what your idea of being done right is.....
People sometimes forget that the first Michael Keaton Batman was actually a pretty good movie. It was more in the comic world than it was in reality. It wasn't too campy and I think it did a decent job of capturing who Batman is.
Unfortunately, the Michael Keaton versions get lumped in with Bat nipples, Jim Carrey in a unitard, an embarrassingly awful Arnie and other atrocities committed to such a good character.

I don't why they get lumped in. It's not Burton's fault that Schumacher couldn't direct a Batman movie to save his life.

I liked Batman Forever; not saying it was exceptional or anything, but Kilmer was a decent Batman and Tommy Lee Jones did a good job as Two-Face. That and I love The Riddler, so while Carrey didn't necessarily pull the role off, it was just great seeing the character on the big screen.
They could have done a whole lot worse... which obviously they did with Batman & Robin.

Michael Keaton is the best Batman of all time imo, although I prefer the Nolan movies.

Keaton may be the best Batman, but Bale is probably the best Bruce Wayne.

I don't think they do, most people that I talk to really like Michael Keaton in the first Batman, and Jack Nickelson completely stole that movie as he chewed up that whole movie whenever he was in a scene.
Keaton did a good job of playing a very human Batman with a very lonely side to him. He wasn't quite the vigilant that Bale's Batman is. But the scene where Keaton first encounters Jack's Joker in front of city hall was so good and so subtle.
The second one wasn't as good but it wasn't Keaton who was bad, in fact all of the actors did a decent job including a stellar turn as Pfieffer as the Catwoman. The problem is that they went with camp for villians instead of the very dangerous Joker in the first one.
But it had had Max Schreck (sp?)
The Val Kilmer batman was an utter disaster and Jim Carey over acted it terribly. Tommy Lee Jones is a great actor and could have been a great Two Face but the character was just a mess. The scenary to me was a disaster it tried too much to be a comic book on screen.
The Clooney Batman was terrible in every way and Schumacker should have been shot into the moon for that movie.

That new trailer is awesome. So stoked for this movie.
"You've given them everything"
"No, not everything"
Batman dies for sure. I think Joseph Gordon Levitt's character will come in as a Nightwing-esque character. Someone who takes over while Bruce Wayne is presumedly captured. And perhaps they leave it open for Levitt's to take over the cowl. Batman Beyond anyone?
