What goes on at a convention like this?

It seems like theres autograph signings then what? Also, is this more than about comics? And are comics still popular today?

These questions are coming from someone who was a comic book fan through childhood and the teens and still has a comic book collection that likely growing in value.

Currently inline for TNG Experience, so far they managed to not fubar this event. The first volunteer I encountered at the train station was doing a great job of telling TNG ticket holders where to go, likewise the volunteers at the Corral have been the same.

Had a pretty good day. Walked in just after 11 and only stood in line for about 5 minutes. Spent most of my time there in line for Stan Lee, but it was worth it. Highlight was seeing Professor X hug Stan Lee. Took off just after 3 because the crowds were intense.

Costume contest, panels, Q&A sessions, and shopping, lots of shopping.

My brother and I drove home from Lethbridge this morning and arrived at the grounds at 10:30 a.m., waited 1 hour and 10 minutes to buy two tickets and went.

It was packed. Very un-fun atmosphere with that many people, difficult to take a picture of someone five feet away without hordes of people getting in view. Nowhere to sit, no walls to lean against. I felt like like part of a cattle herd.

We got out of there pretty quick. At about 1:15 p.m. we exited and headed to the c-train. People were just being turned away at this point, we heard rumblings from a volunteer dressed like Lara Croft that the fire marshal said no more people.

When we got to the train station, there was a guy there with a kid, maybe 5, who looked like the biggest dork with his giant rimmed thick glasses--I remember because it made me smile.

Waiting for the train for about 5 minutes, the dad of this kid asked my brother if we got in, presumably noticing the boxed bat'leth he was carrying. We told him yeah, he said they got about 200 feet close to the door waiting in line before they were turned away, so we gave them our Saturday passes and told them to say they had to run to their car for a medical emergency which had been resolved, or something. I told him to make a fuss if they said no, told them to say the volunteer they talked to said they could get back in or something.

They went to try and get in, and I hope they made it.

If I said I saw a kid fitting that description inside would you feel better about your day?

Hmm 1 hour into the TNG Exposed event and we've had 20 mins a movie time, as well as 2 non TNG guest up on stage to banter.... and now a 30 min intermission. Given the blocks of empty seats I'm guessing the TNG cast is doing photos right now and the VIP's will flow in for the actual reunion portion of the evening.

Not super impressed that 7:00 on the ticket actually meant 1-1/2 later at least.

I showed up around 10-1030. Got in about 11am. Actually a little after because I was too late for the animation panel. I'd say it was 30-45mins to get in. The line up to purchase tickets at the time was more than an hour, according to one of the volunteers.

I went straight to the Corral to see the TNG panel with Spiner, WW and Lavarr Burton. Had no trouble getting a seat, although it was busy. Took a few pics. Waited for Adam West, who was way late, and then was told not to leave the Corral because the Fire Marshal had shut everything down. Was told if I left it would be for good.

Eventually I left the Corral without ever seeing West and wondered for a bit. Took some more photos and was given #### by the slutty Elektra/Catwoman etc who said I had to pay $5 to even take a picture of them. ####s.

Tried to go outside for a smoke and noticed all entry points were blocked by volunteers and told once again that if I left it would be for good. This was around 2pm.

I then went to the Boyce theatre for which there was a very long line for Hayden Panettiere who was at 3pm. At least it became long. I ended up getting there right as the last Adam Baldwin people went in and ended up being 3rd in line. Got to see her right up close but her Q&A wasn't particularly interesting. I really wanted to ask about the SC pics and if she's a hockey fan but was beat out by an onslaught of Heroes Q's.

After that I wondered and then left at 430. At that time they told me again that if I left I couldn't come back and there was still a huge line to get in.

I had a decent time but it is obvious they need more room. The entire autograph/photo area was insane. It was quite busy when I went last night. Dropped a bunch of cash on comic books. I only bought 1 book from Bertuzzied's booth so I didn't bother with Great Save Tanev!!! to save a buck.

I walked away with a $9 "Jabba's Barge" R2D2, I wanted to see Mark Meer, but he wasn't at his table, no way I was paying $40 for an autograph from Starbuck or Frank Black...yeeesh. Still had a fun time though, arrived around 11:30, left about 3, we had no idea of the issues going on around us as per attendance etc. Crazy!

Any suggestions on when to show up to buy a ticket to get in tomorrow? Will I have to wait in line to buy, then wait to get in?

My plan right now is to leave my house in the NW and take the train to be there for 730/8. Too early? Just right?

Batman may want to hit up the Gothem gym every once in a while if he is going to wear form fitted clothing.

Cecil - thanks so much for the write up and photos.

I can't believe that Catwoman chick wanted money for that photo. If that was the case I would have charged $5 to look at the Thor Hammer I bought my son.

Cecil- I have now seen more of the expo in your 2 posts than i have since I was there on Thursday! hehe

As a vendor it has been awesome, but i can see how crappy it is to go as a fan today. My friends who were handing out my postcards said everyone was in a really crappy mood compared to Friday and who can blame them.

I talked to the organizer about why not renting the saddledome and it was because of the Flames. They couldn't risk them going into the 2nd round and then having everyone kicked out of the dome. haha

Also is that supergirl girl going to wear the same costume every year?? hahaha it's like going on 3. At least Dani changes her costumes every year!
