He isn't a PG suited to a slow down, feed the ball to Melo, stand and watch offense. Articles already up about how this could cost him millions in a new deal as his value will go down. Melo does not want to share the spotlight and Lin's role is going to go down, down and down. NY's interest would be that they would get just the kind of PG their prima donna wants.

Calderon to a pick and roll offense is a good bet because he runs it so well. Ny? Perhaps, but I do think we will see him moved.

I wonder if bay less would get a look srom San Antonio now that their backup pg tj ford has suddenly retired?

^ who would you get from SA that would be worthwhile for Bayless, realistically? Personally I think the guy is junk because he does nothing particularly well (passing or scoring), and you have to be one or the other to be a starter. Calderon is a solid, solid PG, but replacing him outside the draft would be very difficult. Trading him now would basically ensure either a) one of the young guys are dealt b) Raptors would be drafting a PG. There's no way Colangelo IMO makes a deal now, as it would limit his bargaining power later.

I think Barbosa is the more likely of the two to go. Possibly in a deal for Bledsoe as the Clippers are looking for a SG. Certainly some teams are out there that could use Calderon but his contract is such a killer. Bayless to me is just offense off the bench and if they do move Barbosa that can be his role.

I would have thought we could get a slightly better return, but if that's what the market for him was, so be it. He was a consumate professional while here, and I'll be rooting for him to have a good playoff run with Indiana. Wouldn't mind Colangelo picking him up again in the offseason for the right price. In the meantime, we've got Gary Forbes as the only guard on the bench right now! Tank is in full swing.

Love it. Been hoping all year Barbosa and Calderon would hit the highway. 2nd rounder is fine because I'm reading the price of getting a late first was taking on a contract. No thanks. Capspace has to be preserved as does draft position.

A person close to the situation says the Toronto Raptors have agreed to send guards Leandro Barbosa and Anthony Carter to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for a second-round draft pick.

Check this out if you have the time. JV seems like a pretty cool, down to earth guy. The more stuff I see about him the more excited I get.

The Raptors actually did something of note yesterday. They played a highly entertaining game against the Bulls. No Bayless and no DD. OF course Bulls had no Rose and Noah got tossed so that more than evens that up. But they took them to OT and lost in the last nanosecond. Perfect game for the tank.

Lakers, Knicks, Bulls all come to mind to that were perfect game for the Raptors this season. Very competitive, battled all game and lost on the last play/plays. Dwayne Casey deserves a ton of credit for his work this season. Raptors could easily be a playoff team next season if they stay healthy.

Not to be a conspiracy theorist but methinks any player who picks up any kind of injury from now on will be unable to recover to next season.

Had a great time at the ACC tonight for the Heat and Raptors. Actually for the most part, all the Raptors games I've been to this year have been entertaining and the effort has been there on a consistent basis. Really excited for the future of this team. Bruce Arthur wrote a great article about how this is a team Toronto can be proud of, with how they compete and their top 10 defense they've played all year long.

Question for CP Basketball fans, in the NBA Draft Lottery, what is the deal about being one of the bottom 5 teams? Seems to be very significant and was just wondering why and how big of an effect it has on the draft lottery? Raptors will have cap space and the possibility of two top 5 picks from the last two drafts joining their team.

I'd say bottom 6 is where you need to be to have a decent shot of winning the lottery... only 4 times (out of 21) has a team outside the top 6 won the lottery, including last year when the Clippers' pick won, but was owned by Cleveland.

Given where the teams are bunched right now, Raptors probably finish anywhere from fourth worst to ninth worst. If they finish fifth worst, they're actually more likely to pick sixth than any other spot.

One last bump of this thread... Toronto has one game left, and it's a big one. Raptors could finish anywhere from 3rd worst to 8th worst, depending on how the last few games involving tanking teams go. Charlotte and Cleveland have locked down 1 and 2, but after that, New Orleans, Sacramento, Cleveland, Toronto, New Jersey, and Golden State are all within a couple games of one another. Those two wins over Atlanta and Boston down the stretch really hurt... they could be solidly in 3rd, instead of needing to count on other teams winning.
So a lot will be on the line when Toronto and New Jersey play on Thursday night. Both teams will have their impact players shut down of course, so it's going to be a battle of who's scrubs can suck harder. (Please, Casey, start Solomon Alibi at PG!) New Jersey actually has a lot more at stake than Toronto... if the Nets don't get a bottom three draft pick from the lottery, they lose it to Portland (as part of the Gerald Wallace trade). Unfortunately, I think the Raptors win this one and finish tied with GS for 7th-worst.

Perfect end to a pathetic season. They lose the coin toss and finish with the 8th pick. Tried to tank all season and couldn't even get that right. Other GM's easily outdoing BC. Now they have to hope that they either win the lottery or that somebody likes a Sullinger etc. and gives them a shot at one of the wing players. Whole season for absolutely nothing. A complete waste of a year.

Before this season started I really wanted Barnes or MKG. MKG's stock has gone way up and will probably be gone by the third pick, so we didn't really have much of a shot at him. Barnes is still a possibility for us since his stock has gone way down, but I think I actually prefer Beal now anyway. He seems to have an all-around game that Barnes doesn't have.

Brad Beal or Kendall Marshall would be perfectly OK with me.
