Really happy for the Winterhawks. Portland had SIXTY-ONE shots.
Next round is going to be great. Should be on Shaw.

4 unanswered goals in the 3rd for the Winterhawks. Over 60 shots on net for Portland. Winterhawks sweep the Americans.
The WHL Finals should all be televised on Shaw. Can't wait to see Baertschi vs Brossoit (assuming the Oil Kings win).

Hawks win seven straight, then lose three straight, and have now won 5 straight.
Sven vs. Brossoit for a ticket to the Memorial Cup (providing the Oil Kings don't lose 4 straight).

Portland with 61 shots in regulation tonight. That's almost hard to imagine.

Portland has always had good attendance for big WHL games. I believe they held the attendance record for junior hockey at one time. It's a good hockey market.

Anyone else want to drive up to Edmonton for a WHL Finals game?
I know, I was with me too until the phrase "drive up to Edmonton" appeared.

Sometimes you can tell the guy is a better junior goalie then he'll be a pro goalie. I think it was there to see with Szuper and Keetley. Never really was impressed by Keetley's technique when I saw him live or on TV. He was big and he was on a good team but he was far inferior to a guy like Krahn in overall technique IMO. Szuper wasn't very big and relied on athleticism, a formula which I don't think often works out. I tend to believe the very big, athletic goalies who play a solid butterfly style without overreacting and overplaying tend to be the best bets. Lelande never impressed anybody as much as Brossoit already has.
Krahn I think could've been a good NHL goalie except for the injuries. In a league with only 60 goalies McElhinney can't really be considered a bust, he turned out well for a late pick. We did develop Craig Andersson for a few years and he turned out better than any of us would've thought. Giguere was obviously one of our best goalie prospects in the last 15 years but Button gave up on him right when he arrived as GM.
Even though I haven't seen much of Brossoit yet, the way people describe his play and his style has me much more excited than I was on guys like Keetley, Szuper, Lelande or even Craig Andersson.
I think with Irving, Brossoit and Ramo behind Kipper we have the best depth in goalies that we've ever had in my time of following the Flames.

I went down to Portland for Game 2 of the Blazers series. If you can go for it. It was a really fun experience. Their fans are great and the city was getting pretty into the Winterhawks.
Portland has a reputation for being really alternative (Portlandia style) but they are a really good sports town. Every time I've been there I've seen people everywhere in O Ducks, Timbers, Trailblazers and Winterhawks gear. They really get behind their teams.

Yup. And capacity constraints is probably the only reason why Ottawa and Calgary passed them on single game totals.

Glad to hear it. We've done a couple Portland trips, but never for sports. It's a great city, with some great (and affordable) restaurants and lots of interesting culture. Having the chance to see the Winterhawks in the finals is a great bonus, too. Sadly, don't think we'll be able to get the time off this year.
