I was just going to go Saturday, but the Futurama and Walking Dead panels might force me to go Sunday as well.

Yeah, you can't really compare the two at all. Multiple times in terms of square footage/people/things to see and spend money on.
The reunion would be interesting to see though.

Same thing. I see stuff on each day that I'd like not to miss.

Be ready to be in lines for a while.
I asked the guy in charge of the expo why he didn't book the Saddledome. They wanted to but didn't want to be booted from the venue because of NHL playoffs!........ ugh.

Might as well ask here: anyone know what the "gaming pass" does?

As posted, photo op times are up, but I'm a total noob and was wondering if someone could tell me how getting autographs works? Or maybe just how much grief I'll have to go through if I want Stan Lee's? Hahah.
From glancing at pages for past cons and whatnot, I realize that it alone would probably cost 50$ or so.

My understanding is you pay the money depending on what you'd like (photo/autograph/both) and then wait hours in a very long line. When you get to the front you have a brief interaction with the person, get your autograph/photo and continue on with the day.
As far as entertainment factor goes I can't say I understand it myself. There is lots of other entertaining things to do at the expo (panels, art viewing, talking to artist/writers), but the photo-ops/autographs seem like an odd way to spend your time & money.
But having said that, I'm sure some people feel the same about watching a meaningless Saturday afternoon game and paying $7.75 for a beer is just as pointless, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Heads up! it's this weekend! It's going to be flipping awesome. The comic expo is now the 2nd biggest event at the stampede after the Oil Show.

What events are people most looking forward to attending? I haven't gone for 2 years but my cousin is coming down from Edmonton to go so I'll drop by the Expo. I'm not sure what I want to go or see besides prowling the vendors for 80s toy goodness at exorbitant prices.

I want to go just to look around a bit, I don't really need to attend any events or autograph signings. What are the best times to go, or am I going to be stuck in a massive lineup to get tickets if I buy at the door.

If you guys get a chance - a local artist named Fiona Staples will be there. Her current work on the new comic by Brian K Vaughn called Saga is really really good. The comic itself is getting amazing reviews too.

Some of the presentations and 'spotlights' that I'll probably try to attend between browsing merch and wandering around all day:
1. Cartoon Voices: Heard this was pretty awesome from a few people that attended last year.
2. Walking Dead Panel: No word on all the presenters (besides Shane) but I love the show and this should be a good panel.
3. Brent Spiner, Wil Wheaton and LeVar Burton Spotlight: Not a huge TNG fan but Space does a pretty good job on these interviews.
4. Futurama Panel: Big fan of the show.
5. Sir Patrick Stewart Spotlight: Great way to end the show, IMO.
6. Fringe Panel: With Astrid and Walter. Will have to choose between this and No.1 though as they are at the same time.
7. Drawing for Kids: Will probably take my daughter who loves to draw and likes Owly (the presenter's graphic novel series).

Just heard Shane has dropped out of the expo and has been replaced by Michael Rooker.

Kind of crappy and interesting all at the same time. I read somewhere recently that they just announced Merle will be back for season 3. I wonder if he lets us know anything?

My fiance is going to stand in line to get a photo with Amanda Tapping (and ask her what's happening with Sanctuary) while I wander around seeing if I can find some SNES games or copies of Rebuild of Evangelion on the cheap (not likely). That's about it for me. Not sure I can stomach waiting in lines for photos or panels.

Heads up, if you're looking for autographs from either Stan Lee (50$), or the full TNG cast (395$), you can pre-purchase those online now, too.
