so what class is everyone rolling with? i finally decided on a Monk, i know they were really overpowered early in the beta and was a little worried about how they are now, but after playing one again last night i'm still quite happy with the class. very nice damage output, a few CC skills, and high survivability with healing spells. plus smacking zombies around with brass knuckles is awesome

Witch Doctor, I've played through enough times with him and still not bored. Can't wait to play with the new skills/runes and really have some fun. I love how easy it is to join friends games I can't believe how simple it is.

Barbarian. I'm a sucker for ridiculously huge weapons. Plus I've always preferred melee combat over ranged.

I thinking demon hunter since it's closest to my rogue and assassin characters I played in D2. I've heard people say it's one of the more boring classes so we'll see after the open beta this week.

Can you play with other players in the open beta or is it single player?

It's the exact same game experience as the closed beta, from what I've read. You won't get access to the beta forums though, and you won't get the $50 of 'betabucks' to test the RMAH.

I tried Demon Hunter for my first go at the beta. Not bad so far, but after seeing the Monk video I kinda want to try that now too.

I've always used Melee characters so I want to switch it up a bit.

I've had Beta for quite some time. Been excited about this game for some time and was going to wait for the actual release date before i tried it out. I finally broke down and was going to give it a go today.... Log in server problems! hahahah

Isn't the point of this weekend's open beta to discover and fix that type of problem before go-live? That's sort of the deal with an open beta.

In other Diablo news, they will be resetting the D2 ladders on May 2. I suppose with all D3 beta tests ending on May 1, they probably want to get people jacked up for the D3 release by giving people a couple weeks of fresh D2.

Played Monk at my friend's house... so disappointed. I actually don't feel bad missing out on this... don't even feel the need to buy a new PC just for this game. Ah well nothing is going to revive my fond memories of doing Baal/Cow runs in D2.

Anyone else have this problem: when I was downloading the beta it got stuck at the initializing part (0%) and it had an error. I left it on overnight though to download so I'm not sure where it went wrong. Now when I hit the icon on the desktop to launch it I get "Updating Setup Files..." and it gets stuck at 75%.

I'll try and re-download it.

I really wish I had not realized that it was open beta weekend. Last exam tomorrow afternoon.

Let's hope it takes 12 hours to download...

^ Had a nightmarish time getting SC2 going, akin to the guy above, but this was pretty straight forward. Took probably an hour to an hour and a half to download the beta client. Am on a new desktop PC though, and was downloading SC2 on a semi-old laptop. Been a blast so far.

This beta has caused one of those "Why the hell am I still up" moments.

On a side note, maybe my nostalgia filters are on, but the Wizard feels a lot more like they require a lot more hit and run than the Sorceress from Diablo II...any else get that?

EDIT - Okay...so blasting through the Beta, it gets better when you have a companion with you. Travelling alone though means a lot of backtracking when "Nightmarish" minions appear and they don't die from a few shots.

sigh, I have no idea wtf is going on but the beta client is downloading soooooooooo slowly for me. I just want to play.

I hate Blizzards downloader, it's always given me problems since it's inception. Whenever possible I'd use a mirror to download patches. Left it running all night and woke up this morning and it was still only at 89% as of 6am. Now I'm up to 92% 2.5 hours later. Doesn't matter what I change in the Downloader options, it just always crawls.

same as usual timesuck. i got into a game and solo'd everything in what i thought was an hour or two. looked at the clock and it turned out to be 4 or 5 hours.
