Big game from the newly formed top line of Krejci-Staal-Whitney. Need a better performance tomorrow to get this series tied up.

Miller has been the difference so far in this series as he has completely outplayed Cam Ward. We have been getting consistent balanced scoring from 3 lines while the Ducks have struggled to find someone not names Toews or Iginla to put the puck in the net. The Ducks countered my wicked awesome lines tonight but trying his big boys on the 2nd line but lucky for me, that's where I play my big boys as well. Ravi's move allowed my top line to get going Dan 'The Man' Cleary leading the charge. I am surprised to be up 3-0 in this series!
Look for the Jackets to wrap up the series tomorrow on the road!

Well we knew Krejci would strike eventually. Looks like we actually dominated the play, outshooting the Sens 33-23, despite the 5-0 advantage in powerplays the refs chose to bless them with. Those two powerplay goals were the difference. Rinne got himself another assist, but otherwise had a night to forget.
Christian Ehrhoff took a double minor for roughing one second after the Sens' first goal. Gotta improve that discipline, but c'mon ref!

1. Peoria Rivermen , Unknown Player 1 (Unknown Player, Unknown Player) at 5:40
2. Peoria Rivermen , Unknown Player 2 (Unknown Player, Unknown Player) at 13:55
4. Peoria Rivermen , Unknown Player 3 (Unknown Player, Unknown Player) at 8:22 (PP)
Not to be a pain but seriously? Now it's up to 14 unknowns. I realize it's just the AHL but it's still frustrating to be losing like this.

I think we clearly need to re-think how we handle AHL games. I actually went through all the AHL lines and auto'd any that were missing players to try and make sure that the unknown player didn't have a huge impact. But Peoria's lines still ended up having a bunch.
In fact it looks like the sim only dressed 4 regulars which is really strange.
Frankly I'm at a loss as to how to handle it. If I set the sim to require full lines then simming will always be delayed when we don't have lines. When we allow for incomplete rosters in the AHL the unknown player shows up.

Best part is, according to the stat sheet, is the Unknown Player assisted twice on each of his own goals (3g, 6a, 9p)!
I think the sim just lumps all of the unknown player stats together on one stat line.
still sucks though

I mean, I understand the frustration but lets be honest... its the AHL.
There is no incentive to win that league. It is a placeholder for potential CPHL players.
I can see how its frustrating but I just don't really see the big deal.

Maybe that's the way you see it, but the fact that we bother simming the games and keeping the stats suggests that it isn't just a "placeholder". Maybe some people like having a little competition outside of the main goal. Is it really that hard to throw together lines for the third round of the playoffs? It's a real shame that the people who don't care (other than Hanni, from what I can tell) are the ones who are still in it.
I really think the league needs to make a decision. Either the AHL matters and everyone is expected to participate or it doesn't. There are GMs on both sides of this one...it's too bad we can't just run the AHL league with the teams who want to be in it.

It wouldn't hurt my feelings a bit if we didn't sim the AHL at all and it was just a placeholder like the ECHL is. But at this point we do so is it really unreasonable to expect people to submit their lines on a fairly consistent basis? It gets missed sometimes, I'm sure everyone forgot their AHL lines a few times this year, but not doing it for every playoff game seems a little ridiculous.
I'm really not that upset about it, it's just frustrating, I'm a competitive person and want to win, even if it is just the AHL (insert my cphl team is crappy joke here).

I am curious to know your opinion on how it is more then a placeholder.
It is not like you would call up an AHL player because he is simming well in the AHL. Unless you are therizzle of course who wanted to see what they were made of. It is a placeholder for players that are not in the NHL yet, it is that simple. Just because a guy sims well in the AHL doesn't mean he will become an NHL player (which is the main goal of all our teams).
I understand it is something fun to look at every now and then but like I said, there is zero incentive to do AHL lines. Everytime I send in my CPHL lines, I make sure (for the most part) that my AHL lines were good to go so I can only speak for myself but it is hard to get motivated to load up the sim just to auto my AHL lines.

I would just assume disable the AHL games and just focus on the CPHL after this season. Personally I just look at AHL rosters to look for trade bait, not to see how good they are doing vs other AHLers stat wise.

They are more than a place-holder because some people care about the results. If they were just place-holder, there would be no reason whatsoever to sim AHL games, keep track of stats, or have an AHL championship.
This is the main reason it bothers me, I think. I would be okay with not having an AHL component or having the players just sit there, even though I do like the added competition the AHL brings. I just really don't like that some people do take it seriously and others don't to the point that they aren't even willing to send in a line file to make it an actual fair competition.
I'm not trying to say that you should start caring about the AHL results if that doesn't interest you. I just think it really sucks that some people care and are playing against multiple "unknown players" in important (if you care) games and losing because of it.

I'm new but I think it needs to be a firm decision one way or the other. Either don't sim the games at all and don't worry about roster limits or sim them and enforce are rules as they would be in the CPHL.
Being that it would be more work for the league and the GMs, I say get rid of it.

A couple notes
Hanni has been great at sending in AHL lines for the playoffs, but I wanted to also say that Doug has also been fantastic at doing it as well. Kudos to you both.
The issue is one that has come up before. I want to bring more clarity to it as well and have a firm rule - but enforcement of the rule is always a challenge.
I would be interested in hearing how many GMs would be in favor of scrapping simming of AHL games. It virtually doubles the amount of time to sim (actually now that I think about it doesn't double it - but certainly adds time). I'm OK doing it but if most of our GMs don't care about AHL results that it doesn't make a ton of sense to spend that time.
I think we should do a non-binding vote to gauge GM opinion.

I think you will find the majority of the CPHL will be in favor of scraping the AHL simming.
