It's much more than just a blown save now, 3 runs given up. Regardless of what terminology is used, 3 runs given up in 0.2 of an inning is not good.

So...he didnt fail to hold the lead?
Blown save is a blown save no matter what your advanced statistical elitism genre wanna call it

It's certainly not and he's blown up, and has no confidence right now. This discussion started when the Red sox had tied it 2-2

Blown save, blowing the game..........whatever. When you see Santos pitch this terribly he blew no matter how you want to label it.
If the Sox were getting their bats on some fantastic pitches then I could understand him not 'blowing it'..........but truth is that Santos looks horrible. No confidence, no command. He blew it.

I always think it's cute that Blue Jay fans find the guts to boo their players when they can hardly find the time to attend thhe other 80 home games per season.

Do the Jays have any other real option than Santos in a save situation though?

Sure anyone really can be a closer, it's just another inning. Casey Janssen can be the next closer.
But 2 blown saves does not a season make.

Don't try and play the card that it's just someone using advanced metrics or anything like that. It's more then just a popular thought, in the baseball world the Save statistic and blown save statistic are useless and outdated. We've discussed this already in the Jays threads this season already.
Santos struggled, this conversation started when it was 2-2. At this time he had allowed one hit, and had a sacrifice come in thanks to a passed ball by the catcher.

oliver and cordero are veteran closers from past teams that can help until Santos get it together...

He was awful. No doubt, there's no advanced statistic that would say otherwise. He did not blow this game for the Jays by any means though. Not even close
