Part of his problem last year besides not pacing well is lack of off speed pitches. He is using it more during spring training. It will give the hitters more things to worry about.

I've liked some of what Carreno has done today. However, I think he's being a little overly erratic due to the cold. He seemed a lot more sharp last year when it wasn't as cold.

He doesn't have any faith in his fastball and Carreno was just not meant to be a starting pitcher. The back end of this rotation could be the death of the BlueJays this season.

It's sarcasm because everyone in the baseball world knows the AL East is the toughest division and there's not one even close to it. The Orioles are still going to be awful, but any other of the 4 AL East teams put in any other division in baseball makes the playoffs.

Carreno is just a fill in, he will be back at AA soon. There is abit of uncertainty esp if McGowan is injury prone and Drabek is still adjusting. Hopefully, Cecil can get his pitches back up and be called back sooner than later...

I usually wait to the middle of June to get a better gauge. There are a lot of teams out there that have made many improvements like the Jays. By the middle of June, the law of averages usally takes over and cancels out any intangibles.
