In non-Sven prospect news:

Edmonton defeated Brandon 2-1 to take the 1-0 series lead. Ferland had no points but was a +1. Brossoit got his fifth straight win, and currently has the best GAA in the WHL playoffs at 1.60.

Wotherspoon had no points but was a +2 in the Winterhawks win.

The Flames have cap room if they don't re-sign some players.

Well the Blues drafted Rattie so there is some potential for a trade of some worth. Granted the top scorer from the Blues has only 54 points. In a Center David Backes.

David (centre) has a cap hit of 4.5 million and has a NTC till 2012 - 2013 and is signed till 2016. Age - 28 in May. Perhaps Joker is the same option here, so not good enough.

TJ Oshie (Right Wing) Cap hit od 2.35 Million and is a RFA. He will be looking for a pay raise this season and a potential trade.

TJ Oshie and a first would be the over-payment I'd ask for.

The kid had the Saddledome chanting his name in his fourth NHL game.

The Flames won't be trading Baertschi.

No no, not Sven.

All we do is bundle up about 3000 CP threads and get our overpayment for our young budding superstar Michael Backlund.

Nice to see him out there at the most crucial point in the game, and stuff the desperation rush which lead to the insurance goal.

Great game for Portland. Sven and Rattie are too much to contain.

4 point game for Sven.

In 5 games, Portland has scored 26 goals. Rattie has 17 points, and Baertschi has 15.
Rattie > Sven ?

Rattie's point totals dropped significantly every time Baertschi was injured and when he got called up... so no. Definitely not.

I've only caught one full playoff game and the highlights, but it seems like on a lot of his his assists, Sven burns through the opposing team and basically bounces the puck in off Rattie.

1st goal - Just a weak goal let in by Blazera goalie.
2nd goal - nice wrister by Sven.
3rd goal - Sven wins the battle down low and the puck ends up in front of the net and then in.
4th goal - Nice PP passing and a nice finish by Rattie
5th goal - EN
No crazy plays by Sven, both Sven and Rattie complimenting each other nicely.

Sven is having a lot of success playing with a pure goal scorer in Rattie, I would really want to see him on a line next year with Cammalleri.

Rattie is a great, pure goalscorer but Baertschi is the straw that stirs it. He creates almost all offensive chances and allows Rattie to sit in open ice and await the feed.

I think it's interesting that Rattie was the playmaker last season and Bartschi was the sniper.

I thought Rattie spent some time with Ninoreider and Johanson last year while Baertcshi towed the 2nd line with Ross?

That could be true, but they still played those roles on separate lines.

Sven was on Rattie's line last season. The top line last year for the Hawks was Niederreiter-Johansen-Ross:

fast forward to 1:16.

Brossoit was real good last night. Brandon got off to a really slow start, but really poured it on in the third. Made a bunch of great saves especially late in the game to give the Oil Kings the win. Really like his game.

Ferland was quiet all game. His line finally got going in the third and had a few chances, but he didn't standout for me. Hopefully he can have a better showing tonight.
