Not to defend a guy who likely is very likely motivated by the payday he stands to receive by writing a book, but I suspect that the local authorities are not amenable to re-opening that particular case.
They think they got the right guy, but he just got acquitted in a bad verdict.
If you listen to OJ's conversations with the police in the ESPN 30 documentary (not admitted in the trial), it is near impossible to believe OJ didn't do it.
