I don't think there is much more that can be gained here (I have learned quite a bit) - I know that you are not a spokesperson for this issue but I have yet to hear a compelling argument (or any argument for that matter) on why this issue and this issue only (as far as I know) brings the body to the mind and not the mind to the body.

I have to disagree with you here, there are pride parades all over the western world, the LGBT community has welded itself into a very effective voting block that has (quite rightfully) forced acceptance of itself in most juristictions, you are far more likey to find a LGBT organization or advocate in your workplace or community than almost any other minority and LGBT issues are far more addressed (all be it grudgingly by the tories) in the body politic.

The deaf get nothing of this, they are basically getting medical treatment and a school or two per province, as a child care worker I always had to attend training sessions regarding the appropriate treatment of LGBT youth, never ever had anything similer for the deaf, blind or disabled.

I brought up the deaf community because there has been a huge controversy in the deaf community with the advent of cochlear implants with advcates for deaf culture argueing that implants are wrong, evil in fact as deafness is the natural state of kids born without hearing and they should embrace deafness as a positive thing, in fact being deaf is better than being able to hear. It is a wierd arguement that is really rooted in a fear that in the next few decades deafness will dissapear in the western world and so their small safe community will disappear with it.

In a statement late Monday night, the Miss Universe Organization said Jenna Talackova can compete provided "she meets the legal gender recognition requirements of Canada, and the standards established by other international competitions."

It will be funny if Manshe wins. I wonder how the other real contestants feel after losing to a shemale? That's gotta hurt the ego. As far as the declining popularity of pageants goes......this should put the final nail in the coffin.
