Thank you for the concern. My nephew, who was like a brother to me, probably closer than a brother, is no longer with us. First I lost my sister in 1995, now her son, which was like a little brother to me today. I got the call at 4:30 pm at work today. I loved that kid so much, and I used to hang out with him every chance. I hired him to work for me every summer, when he came back to Calgary, and we would act like such ass-clowns together when people weren't looking, and sometimes get busted, and look like total fools. He was hilarious.

So much potential, lost. Such an unbelievable talent. An actual genius, both musically and intellectually. And I say that without embellishment or exaggeration. Spent the last 3 years in NYC studying.

My parents who raised him, are absolutely devastated. They have seen two of their children taken. One at 23, now another at 22.

All of you parents, hug your kids, and all of you lucky enough to have a brother or sister, call them and tell them you love them. They can vanish in an instant.

This is absolutely surreal, and I keep hoping I wake up from a terrible terrible dream. I have spent the last 3 hours staring at a wall trying to make sense of this, and trying to figure out what to say to my folks. My dad looks like he is going to drop dead at any minute. He loved that kid more than me, his biological son, and rightfully so. He was such a great guy.

I love you so much bud. You were my best scrawny little buddy.

Thanks for the concern. I am fine, physically at least. I honestly will never be able to recover from this one. It took me 10 years to come to grips with my sister, it feels like someone hacked open that wound with a chainsaw. I had just decided to take a self imposed break until next season, hence my absence. Just needed to get away for a bit. I was getting worked up over stuff I didn't even really care about.

My parents wanted to know how to take down his Facebook page, as they did not want family finding out about this via Facebook posts. I hardly ever use it anymore and was too flustered to figure it out.

By the way, thank you. The link worked and I have received an email from them notifying me they are investigating the case, and reviewing the info I have sent in.

That's horrific. It really puts the trivial things in life in perspective. Take care pylon.

Condolences and best wishes. Sports are so unimportant next to real life, aren't they? You WILL recover. One day. You'll never forget him but you'll recover.

I'm sorry to hear what you're going through. I can't imagine. Just don't bottle things up and stay close to your family.

If you need a break from your dog(s?), send me a PM. As you know, I have some experience with Dachshunds with back problems as well, so if you need to drop her off for a few hours or days, just let me know.

If anyone has any connections at Air Canada, or any airline to help get a fair price it would be greatly appreciated. My folks are heading to NY tomorrow or tuesday to recover his body and belongings, and every flight I am finding is ridiculously priced. I called and they said they would offer a bereavement rate, but did not know how much. And can't tell you how much. You just send in the documents and they decide what they are going to do if anything at all. Seems like they really don't want to help. Even though he has flown back and forth about 20 times the last three years on their planes.

Any help is appreciated, or if anyone has a connection, or works for AC and can just hook me up with some sort of deal, or the right person to talk to, please let me know.

Not sure if Westjet is an option, but I flew with them when my grandmother died and they gave me the bereavement rate over the phone (albiet it wasn't as good as the 'seat sale' price).
